  4. Las Vegas Craps is an authentic rendition of a Las Vegas style craps game. 
  5. While the primary purpose of this game is entertainment, it also provides 
  6. helpful assistance and recommended strategies. 
  7.  
  8. Craps is the most exciting of all casino games.  It offers the player the 
  9. opportunity to win, or lose, large sums of money very quickly.  There are over 
  10. twenty different bets available in the game of craps.  The craps table is 
  11. divided into three distinct sections.  The two end sections are where the 
  12. majority of the bets are made.  The middle area, contains bets known as 
  13. proposition, or center, bets. 
  14.  
  15. Craps is played by betting on the outcome of the rolling of two dice.  In order 
  16. to properly understand and participate in the game of craps, it is important to 
  17. know the possible outcomes when two dice are thrown.  There are eleven possible 
  18. outcomes in a roll of two dice (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12). 
  19. Certain numbers are more likely to be rolled than others.  The chances of 
  20. rolling a particular number are as follows:

  60. The casinos use these odds to their advantage in the game of craps.  When a bet 
  61. is won, it is typically paid off at an amount that is less than the true odds 
  62. of winning the bet.  All of the bets in the game favor the casino, or house. 
  63. Some bets favor the house more than others.  The key to winning at the game of 
  64. craps is to play the bets that offer the lowest house advantage.

  66. Extensive help is available for every menu item and dialog box in the game. The 
  67. help information for each bet will contain the rules for that bet as well as 
  68. some recommended betting strategies.  All you need to do is select the 
  69. particular item that you want help for and press the F1 key.

  88. The New dialog is used to start a new game of craps.  It contains the following 
  89. items:

  92.   Enter the amount of money that you wish to borrow in order to begin playing 
  93.   the game.  The money that you borrow is called a marker.  It will be placed 
  94.   into your bank and you can then use it to bet with.  You will be borrowing 
  95.   the money from Guido, the casino's loan officer.  You can payoff your marker, 
  96.   or borrow more, at any time, by selecting the Marker dialog, located under 
  97.   the Options menu.

  100.   This button causes the current contents of the dialog to take effect.  The

  121. Minimum bet 
  122.   Allows you to set the table's minimum bet.  If you then attempt to place a 
  123.   bet that is less than the minimum bet, a message will appear telling you why 
  124.   you cannot place the bet.

  126. Maximum bet 
  127.   Allows you to set the table's maximum bet.  If you then attempt to place a 
  128.   bet that is greater than the maximum bet, a message will appear telling you 
  129.   why you cannot place the bet. 
  130.  
  131. Default bet 
  132.   Allows you to set the table's default bet.  The default bet amount is used 
  133.   when placing any new bet, or when changing your marker.  The amount entered 
  134.   here will appear automatically in the entry fields of the bet or marker 
  135.   dialog.  You may choose to accept the amount, or change it.  The default bet 
  136.   must be less than the maximum bet and greater than the minimum bet.

  138. Odds 
  139.   Allows you to set the table's maximum allowable odds.  The value you select 
  140.   here is the multiple which will be used to calculate the maximum allowable 
  141.   odds. 
  142.  
  143. All bets ON during come out roll 
  144.   This is used to determine whether or not you wish to have all bets ON during 
  145.   the come out roll.  If a bet is ON, it is considered in play.  If a bet is 
  146.   OFF, it is out of play.  A bet that is in play can be won or lost.  A bet 
  147.   that is out of play cannot.  Certain bets in the craps game are normally OFF 
  148.   during a come out roll unless you tell the table operators that you wish the 
  149.   bets to be ON.  Checking this box turns all bets ON during a come out roll. 
  150.  
  151. Automatically calculate maximum odds 
  152.   This is used to determine whether or not you wish to have the game 
  153.   automatically calculate the maximum allowable odds for a given bet.  If you 
  154.   allow the game to calculate the maximum odds, the value will be placed into 
  155.   the odds entry field as the default odds.  If you do not allow the game to 
  156.   calculate the maximum allowable odds, the default bet will be used in the 
  157.   odds entry field as the default odds.  You may choose to accept the amount, 
  158.   or change it.  Checking this box turns on the automatic calculation of 
  159.   maximum odds. 
  160.  
  161. Guido extracts money for marker payoff 
  162.   This is used to determine whether of not Guido  should periodically take 
  163.   money from your bank in order to pay off your marker.  Checking this box will 
  164.   allow Guido to extract money for marker payoff. 
  165.  
  166. OK 
  167.   This button causes the current contents of the dialog to take effect.  The 
  168.   dialog will then close and you may begin playing. 
  169.  
  170. Cancel 
  171.   This button will close the dialog and ignore any changes that were made. 
  172.  
  173. Defaults 
  174.   This button will set all of the fields in the dialog to their default 
  175.   settings.  These default settings will not actually take effect until you 
  176.   also choose the OK button.

  184. The Marker dialog allows you to make changes to your marker.  You can either 
  185. borrow more money, or pay back some of your current marker.  Your marker is 
  186. held by Guido, the casino's loan officer.

  188. Your current marker and bank account are displayed at the top of the dialog. 
  189. When you pay back part of you marker, the money comes out of your bank and your 
  190. marker decreases.  When you borrow more, the money is added to your bank and 
  191. your marker increases. 
  192.  
  193. Pay back 
  194.   Select this button if you want to pay back money. 
  195.  
  196. Borrow more 
  197.   Select this button if you want to borrow more money. 
  198.  
  199. How much 
  200.   Enter the amount that you wish to pay back or borrow.  The value that is 
  201.   entered in the default bet field of the Settings dialog will be automatically 
  202.   placed in the entry field.  You may choose to accept this amount, or change 
  203.   it.  If you attempt to borrow more than the maximum allowable marker, or try 
  204.   to pay back more than you have in your bank, a message will appear telling 
  205.   you why you cannot make the change.

  220. The Bet dialog is used to place the various bets in the Las Vegas Craps game.

  222. Your current bank account is displayed at the top of the dialog.  When you 
  223. place a bet, the money comes out of your bank.

  225. Bet 
  226.   This field is used to either enter a new bet, or change an existing bet. If 
  227.   the rules of a bet do not allow it to be changed, the bet field will not be 
  228.   selectable.  On a new bet, your entire bank, or the value that is entered in 
  229.   the default bet field of the Settings dialog, (whichever is smaller) will be 
  230.   automatically placed in the entry field.  You may choose to accept this 
  231.   amount, or change it.  If you attempt to bet more than the maximum bet, less 
  232.   than the minimum bet, or more than you have in your bank, a message will 
  233.   appear telling you why you cannot place the bet.

  235. Odds 
  236.   This field is used to either enter new odds, or change existing odds.  Odds 
  237.   are only valid on certain bets and at certain points in the game.  If Odds 
  238.   are not valid, or they cannot be changed, the odds field will not be 
  239.   selectable.  On new odds, your entire bank, or the maximum allowable odds for 
  240.   the bet, (whichever is smaller) will be automatically placed in the entry 
  241.   field.  If you have turned off the automatic calculation of maximum odds, 
  242.   from within the Settings dialog, then the smaller of your bank and the value 
  243.   that is entered in the default bet field of the Settings dialog will be 
  244.   automatically placed in the field.  You may choose to accept this amount, or 
  245.   change it.  If you attempt to bet more than the maximum bet, less than the 
  246.   minimum bet, or more than you have in your bank, a message will appear 
  247.   telling you why you cannot place the odds.

  1461. A Free Odds bet, or just Odds bet, is an extension to the line bets.  This bet 
  1462. must always back an existing line bet.  An Odds bet can be placed for every 
  1463. existing line bet.  While the Free Odds bet looks like a way to simply increase 
  1464. your line bet, it is much more than that.  The Free Odds bet is paid of at the 
  1465. true odds.  Thus, the house gets no advantage on this bet.  The Free Odds bet 
  1466. serves to lower the overall house advantage on the line bets.

  1468. The amount you are allowed to bet on a Free Odds bet is usually limited to some 
  1469. multiple of the line bet that it backs.  The most common multiples are single 
  1470. odds and double odds.  In a single odds game, the Free Odds bet can only be as 
  1471. large as the line bet that it backs.  When playing double odds, the Free Odds 
  1472. bet can be up to two times the line bet. The odds multiple can be set in the 
  1473. Settings dialog.
