  8. This fix is for APAR PJ08679 -
  9.  
  10. * Can not install OS/2 2.1 on a NEC Ultralight Versa laptop machine.
  11.  
  12. Updated Module: KBD01.SYS
  13.  
  14. This fix requires the OS/2 2.1 Installation Diskette # 1 to be updated with a
  15. new KBD01.SYS file. Please follow the instructions below so that we can provide
  16. service to your machine in the future.

  18. To Install:
  19.  
  20. 1.) Create a backup of your original OS/2 2.1 Installation Diskette # 1 by doing
  21.     a DISKCOPY.
  22.  
  23. 2.) Copy the KBD01.SYS file from the fix diskette to the backed-up Installation
  24.     Diskette # 1.
  25.  
  26. 3.) Install OS/2 2.1, using the backed-up Installation Diskette # 1.
  27.  
  28. 4.) After OS/2 2.1 is installed, you must perform the following steps. In order
  29.     for us to be able to provide service to your machine in the future, we must
  30.     save the original OS/2 2.1 GA-level KBD01.SYS file on a separate diskette,
  31.     and save the "service log" file LOGU001.OS2 in \OS2\DLL.
  32.  
  33.    1.) Start an OS/2 Full Screen session.
  34.    2.) Insert the original OS/2 2.1 Installation Diskette # 1 in drive A:
  35.    3.) At the command prompt, type "COPY A:\KBD01.SYS C:\OS2\DLL"
  36.        (where C: is your OS/2 partition. If you installed OS/2 in a different
  37.        partition, use that drive letter.)
  38.    4.) Insert a blank diskette in drive A:
  39.    5.) Type "MD A:\ARCHIVE"
  40.    6.) Type "MOVE C:\OS2\DLL\KBD01.SYS A:\ARCHIVE"
  41.        (where C: is your OS/2 partition. If you installed OS/2 in a different
  42.        partition, use that drive letter.)
  43.    7.) Print the following on a label and attach it to the diskette in drive A:
  44.        "ARCHIVE: KBD01.SYS 8679VOL"
  45.        Please save this diskette as it will be needed if future service is
  46.        required for the KBD01.SYS module.
  47.    8.) Insert the fix diskette in drive A:
  48.    9.) Type "UPDATE A: C:".
  49.        (where C: is your OS/2 partition. If you installed OS/2 in a different
  50.        partition, use that drive letter.) This will update the service log, 
  51.        LOGU001.OS2, on your system. The service log is a requirement to be
  52.        able to apply fixes to your machine in the future.
