-
- Note: If you don't have OS/2 1.2 then don't even bother reading any further!
- This version of zipview fixes a bug that caused the previous version
- to fail on VGA systems.
-
- --------------
- Ok, now for all you guys with OS/2 1.2
-
- ZIPVIEW.EXE is a simple silly little program that will allow you to accomplish
- two different things:
-
- 1) Cause all your .ZIP files in the file manager to come up with
- a funky little icon of a zipper.
-
- 2) If you double click on the icon a window on the screen will open
- up showing you the contents of ZIP file.
-
-
- What is being accomplished here with ZIPVIEW could have been done by tweaking
- PKUNZIP.EXE and messing with the File Manager, but I opted for this solution
- because it does a work around on one of the bugs in the File Manager and in
- the end will prove to be less messy.
-
-
- Installation
- ------------
-
- 1) Copy ZIPVIEW.EXE and ZIPVIEW.ICO into whatever directory you wish to have
- installed in.
-
- 2) Make sure that PKUNZIP.EXE is in your path. (ZIPVIEW requires it!)
-
- 3) If you have not previously tweaked your copy of PKUNZIP.EXE so that it will
- run in a window, use the enclosed program TAG.EXE to do so.
- Just type "TAG /WIN PKUNZIP.EXE" CR.
-
- 4) Once ZIPVIEW.EXE is in whatever directory you want it in type "ZIPVIEW -i"
- to install it. If you ever wish to move ZIPVIEW.EXE and ZIPVIEW.ICO to
- another directory you must repeat this step.
-
- 5) That's it. Run the file manager and your .ZIP files should come up with
- a funky new ICON.
-
-
-
- Some Notes
- ----------
-
- ZIPVIEW tweaks the OS2.INI file so that the File Manager knows to associate
- .ZIP files with ZIPVIEW.EXE. Unfortunately if you had installed this association
- manually using the File Manager and you had a HPFS drive, the File Manager
- would only know about .ZIP files and not .zip files, but don't worry about
- this since ZIPVIEW has installed associations for both.
-
- If you wish you may install ZIPVIEW in one of your program groups.
