-
- NAME
- ispelite - Interactively correct spelling for a file
-
- SYNOPSIS
- ispelite file [,file]*
-
- DESCRIPTION
- Ispell Lite is fashioned after ispell 2.0, which was in turn
- fashioned after the spell program from ITS (called
- ispell on Twenex systems.) The most common usage is "ispelite
- filename". In this case, ispelite will display each word
- which does not appear in the dictionary, and allow you to
- change it. If there are "near misses" in the dictionary
- (words which differ by only a single letter, a missing or
- extra letter, or a pair of transposed letters), then they
- are also displayed. If you think the word is correct as it
- stands, you can hit the space bar to accept it this one
- time, or "a" to add it to your user dictionary. If one
- of the near misses is the word you want, type the corresponding
- number. If you want to ignore the word for the rest of the
- ispelite program run but don't want to keep it in your dictionary
- then you can type "i" for ignore. Finally, if none of these
- choices is right, you can type "R" and you will be prompted
- for a replacement word.
-
- When a misspelled word is found, it is printed at the top of
- the screen. Any near misses will be printed on the following
- lines, and finally, two lines containing the word are
- printed at the bottom of the screen.
-
- Multiple files can be listed and each file in turn will be
- run through ispelite. Use the environment variable ISPELL-LITE
- to hold the path where the ispell-lite files. Be sure to
- include the drive also and end the path with a '\', as in
- SET ISPELL-LITE=D:\ISPELL\
-
- LIMITS
- Ok, why is this program ispell-lite instead of ispell?
- The plethora of command line options is gone.
- The fancy capitalization handling is gone.
- The user dictionary holds a maximum of 5000 words. Use
- mergem.cmd to add your user dictionary words to the permanent
- dictionary. This will not take care of using the suffix codes.
- These can be fixed by hand, however, by editing the text file
- dict2. The file dict2.usr is also an ascii text file, so
- you can manually add and delete words directly from it.
