ocr: 1742 cm--C=O Otretch. In small ring esters, this vibration is shitted to higher frequency by coupling to the stretch of the adjacent O-Cand C-Cbonds. The amount of coupling depends on the O-CO)-C angle. As with other carbonyl groups, conjugation lowers the frequency. (See overlay menu).
