ocr: 1380 and 1365 cm-l - - - - CH3 umbrella bend. In hexane this was a single peak, but in - 2,3-dimethylbutane two CHa groups are attached to the same carbon and this peak becomes a doublet. This indicates the presence of a gem-dimethyl or t-butyl group.
