  17. Steve Fox wrote the Remote Operating System in TURBO pascal version three. Mick
  18. Gaitor wrote ross33ox.lbr, which has the machine dependent code for the osborne
  19. executive. Bill Leary wrote roscpm+.lbr for ros under cpm3.

  33. Borland International says they have distributed over 400,000 copies of Turbo 
  34. Pascal.    Several  programs  for this excellent compiler are stored  in  the 
  35. TPASCAL  file  area.   Feel  free to download these files and to  upload  any 
  36. others you have found useful.

  38. If you are using Turbo Pascal,  you may be interested in the Turbo User Group 
  39. which  publishes  a  bi-monthly  magazine  of  hints,   bugs,  insights,  and 
  40. tutorials.   The  magazine  is not large,  but the  material  is  worthwhile.

  127. If  you are an old user,  you may answer "N" to the following question to try 
  128. again.  If it has been some time since you last logged in, your name may have 
  129. been  purged from the active user list,  and you will have to login as a  new 
  130. user.

  133. city  and  state you are calling from  and for a password (of  your  choice).

  154. A hayes compatible smartmodem automatically detects the transmission rate
  155.  of 300 or 1200 bps at answer.
  156.  
  157. This  Remote  Operating  System (ROS) was written by Steve  Fox  using  Turbo 
  158. Pascal  (from  Borland  International) with B+  tree  indexed  file  support.  
  159. Access to the operating system is not necessary for file transfer, since this 
  160. is built into the system (see the File Transfer System menu).  A user's guide 
  161. to ROS is available in the LOGIN file area.   This file,  ROSUSR.DQC,  may be 
  162. either  typed or downloaded using Xmodem protocol.   If you have not used ROS 
  163. before,  please  take the time to look at this file - many differences  exist 
  164. between ROS and older RBBS's.
  165.  
  166. Unvalidated  users will only be allowed 20 minutes per call.   This should be 
  167. enough time to get familiar with the system and determine whether or not  you 
  168. wish  to  become a fully validated user.   No charges are ever made for  this 
  169. system,  nor  are donations even encouraged,  but because attempts have  been 
  170. made  to use the system improperly,  REGISTRATION WILL BE REQUIRED  FOR  FULL  
  171. ACCESS.  Until this is done, ALL messages will be routed to the sysop and the 
  172. number  of  files that can be accessed will be severely restricted (only  the 
  173. LOGIN file area will be available).
  174.  
  175. Please enter a message to "SYSOP" (you may do this during the logout process) 
  176. which  contains your name,  address,  phone number,  and your intended use of 
  177. this system.   This information will be STRICTLY private and will not be used 
  178. for any purpose other than validation which is normally done in 48 hours.

  180. I  apologize for any inconvenience these restrictions might  cause  you,  but 
  181. like locks on doors, it is necessary because of the few individuals that have 
  182. abused the system.

  184. The first number in each system prompt indicates the amount of time available 
  185. until  the system will automatically log you out.   Allow a couple of minutes 
  186. to enter your validation message.

  188. A  question mark ("?") entered at most prompts will display  additional  help 
  189. and menus.
