Now that this is out of the way, lets get on to the good stuff.
About BBS Statistics Trakker:
BBS Statstistics Trakker will show all important information read in from
the callers log and create a database and index file to hold all info.
With Bstats using a database, it will allow a Sysop to Trim / Delete their
callers.log at will instead of having to keep a callers.log for 1 month if
they want to show there Stats for that month...This will keep all of your
Between.bat file program running faster between calls.
Some of the information that is collected is, Baud rates up to 115,200,
Modem calls, local logons, will automatically show information up to 6 nodes!
Average calls for day, P.M. and A.M. calls...average per hour. Total calls,
Bulletin read, messages entered, new users added, etc...to many items to
write down, you will just have to run it to see it... :)
Also, Bstats will create a Multi Page Screen using sharp Graphics showing all
this info in a @-varible screen so only one screen is needed for both color
and mono. Bstats creates two Bar Chart screens showing Calls by A.M and
P.M. It will adjust it's callers scale to handle the amount of calls as the
month progresses. The current Scales define, 60, 120, 180, 240, 300, 360, 420,
480, and 540 calls per hour.
Files Created by BBS Statistic Trakker:
Bstats.exe will create three other files when it is
run for the first time they are as Follows:
Bstats.dat <-- Database for on information read to date from callers.log
Bstats2.dat <-- Database for Overall Callers Number
Bstats.idx <-- Index file for Bstats2.dat file..
Ok, since BBS Statistics will create data bases, once it reads your entire
callers log for the first time, you may if you wish, delete or trim the
callers.log file as it won't need it anymore to reread every time to create
the screens. It only needs any new infomation that has been written to the
callers.log after it first runs...I delete / trim my log file every 3 days
to keep my between.bat running fast between callers.
Bstats Config File Setup:
Config file layout is as follows:
c:\tribbs\bstats
c:\tribbs\mwork\callers.log
c:\tribbs\display\bullet4.bbs
Line 1 <-- Full path to the directory for the files that Bstats.exe will
create and need to read later (Bstats.dat, Bstats2.dat &
Bstats.idx).
Line 2 <-- Full path and name of callers.log
Line 3 <-- Full path and name of bulletin or logon screen to create.
MultiNodes BBS's:
Put a copy of the Bstats.exe & bstats.cfg in each nodes directory or any
other directory on the same Hard Drive with the other nodes.
Make sure that what ever you put in Line one of the config file that all
other node's config files are the same and point back to the directory that
Bstats.exe will create and look for it's files later.
Also, I might mention, that Bstats uses a Locked Read method for the getting
information from the callers.log, so if a little red box pops up stating that
"Bstats is waiting for Access to callers.log" don't be alarm, this is just
to show you that it is waiting it's turn to read in the callers.log file.
Operation:
This program can run either in a Between or Event batch file. Simply
add BSTATS to either batch file.
Example of a Between.bat file:
cd\tribbs\bstats
Bstats.exe
cd\tribbs
NOTE! Between.bat files does NOT need Board.bat at the end to call
TriBBS back up.
Example of a Events.bat file:
cd\tribbs\bstats
Bstats.exe
cd\tribbs
board
BBS Statistics Trakker will keep adding information to it's data bases until
you decide to delete the 3 files it creates. So if you want to start over
at the first of the month, simply go to the directory you entered on Line
1 of the config file, and delete the 3 files BSTATS.DAT, BSTATS2.DAT, &
BSTATS.IDX. The next time it reads the callers log, it will create all new
files, and keep adding info from that point on..
Sysops can start this program at any time during the month and BSTATS will
will create it's database and index files based on the beginning of the
callers.log wherever it may begin.
In closing, I have included sample files in this archive, Bstats.cfg and
Bullet4.bbs to allow you to see how the config file is set up and to see
what my Stats screen looks like...You will need a @-varible editor or viewer
to see the Bullet4.bbs, or you can temporary place it as a bulletin and view
it from inside TriBBS!
That's it for.... Hottest Doors Trakker v1.0 !
