- Error Messages
-
- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-
- Below is a list of the less obvious error messages that can occur during the
- use of Financial Accounts.
-
-
- 1. The Date Entered Is Not Entered Within The Financial Year
-
- You are required to specify a date between the start of the financial year
- and end of financial year. For example, if the start of the finanical year
- is March 95, the date entered but be between 1 March 1995 and 30 April 1996.
-
- 2. Sorry, The Account DataFile Seems To Be Currupt. Record Not Deleted.
-
- This is a very rare error. When deleting an entry, the file on disk is
- physically changed, so if the program has reason to believe the file is
- currupt in someway, the record won't be deleted, preventing any more file
- corruption. Sometimes re-loading the file can sort things out.
-
- 3. Sorry, No More Entries Can Be Added.
-
- You have reached the limit of the number of entries that can be added to
- whatever you are adding to. Accounts can have up to 1000 transactions in
- one month, but all other entries, markers, investments, etc. can only have
- up to 100 entries.
-
- 4. The File Selected Must End With .FA To Be Accepted As Valid.
-
- You have been asked to specify a Financial Accounts file, which is always
- indicated with the suffix .FA, but have selected another file.
-
- 5. Can't Open File
-
- You have attempted to open a file that is either not a valid Financial
- Accounts file or a valid file which has been altered in someway.
-
- 6. Trouble Accessing File
-
- Financial Accounts is having trouble accessing the account datafile or the
- account information data file. The best thing to do would be to save your
- current file, and then re-load it. If the problem still occurs, you may
- have a disk error, or the datafile could have become currupt. You could try
- deleting the month by selected "Delete This Month" from the edit menu, then
- try again.
-
- 7. Program Error Detected. Save Any Unsaved Work.
-
- I would be very suprised if you ever had this message, but basically it
- means something is happening that shouldn't be happening. In this case you
- should save your file and re-load Financial Accounts. Its just provided as
- a precaution.
-
- 8. Not Enough Available Memory.
-
- When you select to list a report on screen, a large window is opened,
- occupying a certain amount of memory. If this message occurs, it means
- you have not got enough memory to open this window. Try quitting some
- workbench applications, or rebooting.
-
- 9. Required Device Is Not Available.
-
- If you are accessing a file off a floppy disk, Financial Accounts will
- sometimes want to read and write from it. If you don't let it have the disk
- it wants, this message will appear. When a program asks for a disk you
- should ALWAYS let it have the disk, else it may get confused.
-
- 10. The Month In The Account You Are Attempting To Transfer To Is Full.
-
- You have attempted to tranfer a transaction to a month in another account
- that already contains 1000 entries.
-
- 11. Couldn't Open Month.
- 12. Couldn't Create Account.
-
- Both these errors usually occur after a "Device Not Available" error. Put
- the correct disk in and try again.
-
- 13. Trouble Accessing Account Information File.
-
- When an account is created, an information file for that account is also
- created, and Financial Accounts must have access to it. Denying this access
- can cause problems. Re-load the file and all should be well.
-
- 14. You Can Not Tranfer To The Account Your Transfering From !
-
- You have attempted to tranfer a transaction using the "TRAN" transaction
- type to the account you transfering from.
-
- 15. Couldn't Delete Transaction
- 16. Couldn't Save Configuration
- 17. Couldn't Write Transaction
-
-
- The above 3 errors are all caused by the user not inserting the disk when
- asked to do so. Please make sure that you always insert the required disk
- to prevent any errors.
