The Area is in the eastern part of the state on the New Jersey border. I-80 goes from east to west and crosses the Delaware Water Gap near East Stroudsburg. Dingmans Falls Visitor Center is off US 209 in Pennsylvania. Kittatinny Point Visitor Center is on I-80 in New Jersey.
WHEN TO VISIT
Kittatinny Point Visitor Center open year round. Dingmans Falls Visitor Center open April through October. Peak visitor month is July. Climate: Winter, 16 to 40 degrees F; Summer, 78 to 88 degrees F.
POINTS OF INTEREST
This scenic area preserves relatively unspoiled land on both the New Jersey and Pennsylvania sides of the middle Delaware River. The river segment flows through the famous gap in the Appalachian Mountains. The Park sponsors a craft village and several environmental education centers.
Some facilities are closed during Winter, but the Park remains open for cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, and ice fishing in designated areas. Over twenty-six miles of hiking is available on the Appalachian Trail. Camping areas include two canoe campgrounds, two group campgrounds, and one concession-operated campground. Food, supplies, and overnight accommodations are available in Bushkill, Stroudsburg, Milford, Portland, Delaware Water Gap, Newton, Blairstown, Branchville, and Port Jervis.
