The Battlefield is in the northwest part of the state, near the Kentucky border. On US 79, go one mile west of Dover town square and three miles east of Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area.

Open year round. Peak visitor month is February. Climate: Winter, 30 to 50 degrees F; Summer, 85 to 92 degrees F.
POINTS OF INTEREST
The first major victory for the Union Army in the Civil War occurred here in February, 1862, under the leadership of Ulysses S. Grant. Fort Donelson (Dover) National Cemetery--1,197 interments, 512 unidentified--adjoins the Park.
