Anglo-Saxon plane. A plane is used to smooth wood by shaving pieces off. This Anglo-Saxon plane has a bronze base and a wooden body. It has been designed to allow the blade to be adjusted for shaving the wood. Wooden planes similar to this one can still be found in a tool shop.
