In the most simplest way,Rhythm can be defined as the pattern of durations in the flow of the different pitches in music. No definition has been accepted by the whole musical community and in his Harvard Dictionary of Music, Willi Apel brings the following definition: "Rhythm is everything pertaining to the temporal quality (duration) of the musical sound", with the intention of including most of the elements in rhythm. There are many different categories of Rhythm, such Modal, Measured and Metrical Rhythms which shall not be treated here.
