  5. a musical form featuring a frequent return to the main theme with various themes or episodes in between, thus producing an A-B-A-C-A...etc. form.

  7. There are no particular rules for the construction of a rondo, but there must be at least three repetitions of the main theme.  In the classical period, the rondo form was often used in the last movements of symphonies, chamber music, concertos, and sonatas.
