When the composer wants a section to be played twice, he does not need to write it two times. Instead, he can use a special sign: two bar lines and two dots, which form a Repeat Sign.
When the Repeat Sign appears at the end of a section and there is no other repeat sign preceding it, the composer intends that the repetition start from the beginning of the music.
When a certain section is to be repeated, the Repeat Sign must appear at the beginning of the music which is to be repeated. Two dots appear on the right side of the two bar lines at the beginning of the section, and two dots appear on the left side of the two bar lines at the end of the section.
