  6. This file contains Courseware for Parent and Teacher, and some 
  7. important information that would help to run this CD-ROM properly.  
  8. Please read all carefully before you start.

  22. a) Courseware for Parent & Teacher

  24.    I) Multimedia Sing-n-Story Time Vol.I includes three modules: 
  25.  
  26.     1. Story Teller Module
  27.        There are five stories in this CD-ROM. They can either 
  28.        be played by non-stop mode or page-by-page mode.  In each
  29.        story, eight colourful pictures are displayed and 2 songs
  30.        are performed. Every story takes about 5 minutes to 
  31.        complete in non-stop mode.
  32.        => To start, click on any book illustration from main menu.
  33.           Select play-back mode then click "Start Now" button.

  35.     2. Colouring Book Printing Module
  36.        Any pages in any books, 40 pages in total, can be printed
  37.        in black and white outline. Printer resolution should be
  38.        300 DPI. If you select less in resolution, you will 
  39.        increase the size. 
  40.        => To start, click on any small book from main menu and
  41.           follow the instructions.

  43.     3. Karaoke Module (Sing Along Module)  
  44.        Including the Welcome Song, there are 11 songs in total.
  45.        Each song is performed in two modes - Songs with Vocal 
  46.        or Melody only. Just plug the mic into the sound card's 
  47.        "MIC IN" jack. Go into sound card's mixer panel, adjust
  48.        the mic volume to a relatively high level.
  49.        => To start, select the song and the play-back mode, then
  50.           click on "Start/Repeat" button. 
  51.  
  52.     II) Ponlix Multimedia's Learning Suggestion 
  53.     (This is not actually a course, but a suggested time scheduling)
  54.  
  55.            5-day course:   1 hour a day 
  56.           10-day course:  30 min. a day
  57.  
  58.         For 5-day course, everyday has a story and two songs.
  59.  
  60.     Step 1: 5 mins.
  61.         Select a story in the non-stop mode, let the story be
  62.                 completed by itself. 
  63.  
  64.     Step 2: 10 mins.
  65.             Select the page-by-page mode of the same story. Stop at
  66.                 the end of each page, explain more about the graphics and
  67.                 the story. If there is a song on that page, explain the song.
  68.  
  69.     Step 3: 15 mins.
  70.             Go to karaoke module, select the two songs related to that
  71.                 story. Teach the children the songs and let them sing along
  72.                 in the "Songs with Vocal" mode first. When they are familiar
  73.         with the songs, change to "Karaoke" mode - i.e. music only,
  74.         then let them enjoy singing by themselves.

  76.     Step 4: 30 mins.
  77.             Print out the black and white pictures, pass crayons or
  78.         other colouring pens to the children. Then go back to 
  79.         page-by-page mode of story teller and let the children
  80.           change pages by themselves. Finally, let them colour 
  81.         or even add to the drawing for the rest of time.

  83.     This is only a suggestion from Ponlix Multimedia. You may design your 
  84.     own method of teaching your children by this CD-ROM. If you have any

  90. b) Hardware and System Requirements:
  91.  
  92.    1. 386DX PC or higher, 4 MB RAM, VGA 256 colour, CD-ROM drive, 
  93.       Audio Board, Mouse. (Recommend 486 PC with 8 MB RAM)
  94.    2. MS Windows 3.1.
  95.    3. Headphones or Speakers connected to your system.
  96.    4. Minimum 6.5 MB free disk space.

  100. c) To setup
  101.  
  102.     1. Start Windows.
  103.        2. Launch File Manager and select CD-ROM drive.
  104.        3. RUN "SETUP.EXE" to start the set up program.
  105.        4. Follow instructions on the screen, an icon will be 
  106.        created in Program Manager.

  110.     Double click "Sing-n-Story Time" icon

  114. d) Drivers
  115.  
  116.    1. You have to change the system into 256 Colours VGA mode before
  117.       starting.
  118.    2. Make sure MCI Wave Audio Driver and MCI CD Audio Driver are
  119.       properly installed.
  120.    3. Make sure Windows have loaded the drivers of your Audio Board.
  121.    4. Video for Windows have been installed thru our setup program.
  122.       If you encounter any problem on playing back Video, try to 
  123.       re-install the whole program.

  127. e) Memory Setup
  128.  
  129.    1. If you have 4 MB RAM or less, make sure you have Virtual Memory
  130.       setup from 386 Enhanced Mode which you can find in Control Panel.
  131.       Please refer to Windows Manual in order to setup properly.
  132.    2. Before you start, close all other windows except Program Manager.
