  2. 1869 he had some 62 elements to consider. Can you see which of the first
  3. twenty elements were absent from his Table?\
  4. Although other first series transition elements were known, the twenty-first
  5. element, scandium, had also not been discovered by 1869. But Mendeleev left a gap in
  6. his table and predicted that the element "ekaboron" with an atomic weight between that
  7. of calcium and titanium should fill it. The element was discovered in 1879.
