[EITAL][PUSH]push[EPUSH][ITAL]plugs: Fitzgeralds; Ivy House; Chester's [PARA](Sunday lunch/parental visit potential); the Tap and Spile (friendly,[PARA]a bit far, but studenty anyway) Chaplins; Royalty Museum Vaults.[EITAL][PARA][BOLD]Clubs/discos/music venues:[EBOLD] [ITAL]Not too many clubs, but the [EITAL][PUSH]push[EPUSH][ITAL][PARA]plugs are Annabels (70s night) and Bourbon Street (ska night), [PARA]both only ú1 to get in. The Ku Klub (ú2.50) is rough as a stag night[PARA]in Bangkok, but attracts students anyway. The bars at Manor [PARA]Quay include a real ale den and a cocktail place. The Carlton Bar [PARA]has a capacity of 300. The one at Wearmouth Hall (cap 350) [PARA]was going to be called Frankie's Place, but he died before he [PARA]could give permission.[PARA][BOLD]Clubs/discos:[EBOLD] Manor Quay (cap 1200) gets a little funky, 3 nights [PARA]a week (ú2 max), on a sprung dance floor.[PARA][BOLD]Music venues: [EBOLD]Manor Quay is also developing as a source of live [PARA]sounds, recently hosting Credit to the Nation, Utah Saints, [PARA]Chumbawamba, and, er, Bad Manners.[PARA][BOLD]Cabaret:[EBOLD] Weekly, (guess where), with the likes of Jim Tavare and[PARA]Jenny Eclair.[PARA][BOLD]Others:[EBOLD] The usual balls, karaoke and quizzes.[HDNG]EATING OUT:[EHDNG][PARA]The college provides cafeterias at Wearmouth Hall and Bede [PARA]Tower, and the Union bars do sarnie type things. The city itself [PARA]has a variety of cheap local restaurants and many take-away and[PARA]fast food places. [ITAL] Fancy food is not the city's forte, but there are [PARA]quite a few good Italian places (Leonardo's and, strangely, Da [PARA]Vinci's), Picasso's (veggie) and the friendly Cantonese Delight. [EITAL][PARA]For late night food, there are takeaways and pizza joints all over town.[PARA][PARA]
