Almost all the other rooms are taken up by other 1st years and special needs students. Anyone else can forget it. 5 of the halls are self-catered and 1 house in the smallest hall is all-female. There are limited provisions for students with children. There are 68 places in the YMCA during term, and a large number of approved lodgings where the University puts 1st years whom it can't accommodate and who can't make their own arrangements. There's a building program, aiming to house all 1st years by 1998.
