[EITAL]Every year the University fights for the Roses Cup [PARA]with York University, which Lancaster have won more often than [PARA]York (but not in the last 4 years). Facilities, all on the campus, [ITAL][PARA]are a bolstering boon to sporting success. [EITAL] To be able to use [PARA]them, students must join the Athletics Union (ú6) after which [PARA]most facilities are free or less than ú1.[HDNG]SPORTS FACILITIES:[EHDNG][PARA]18.2 acres of playing fields ([ITAL]which allegedly provide a fine harvest [PARA]of magic mushrooms in season[EITAL]); all-weather pitches; sports hall; [PARA]12 squash courts; croquet lawn; bowling green; 25m swimming [PARA]pool; climbing wall; gymnasium; multigym; sauna and solarium; [PARA]gym; weights rooms (male and female); dance studio; athletics [PARA]area; golf practice area; 8 tennis courts; archery range; floodlit [PARA]hard playing area; and University's Lake Carter. Locally, a golf [PARA]course and the River Lune (where the University has a boat [PARA]house). Sailing Club uses the Glasson Dock marina.
