All the bars are popular, often attracting students from [ULNE]Humberside University[EULNE]. The Resnikov Bar[ITAL] is regarded as the place to pose in, if you can elbow through[EITAL]. The John McCarthy Bar has stained glass lighting and is full of rugby lads; the Chico Mendes Bar, named after a Brazilian environmental campaigner, is, [ITAL]ironically[EITAL], decorated with hardwood; and the Sports Centre Bar, [ITAL]oddly[EITAL], is the quietest.[PARA][BOLD]Theatres:[EBOLD] There are 2 theatres.[PARA][BOLD]Cinemas:[EBOLD] 2 film clubs and the Union shows movies too.[PARA][BOLD]Clubs/discos:[EBOLD] For weekly wildness, the Union Main Hall (cap 1,450, adm ú1 for the Stomp) or the Assembly Hall (500) are the places for the club crew.[PARA][BOLD]Music venues:[EBOLD] The Union Main Hall is also a [ITAL]mega [EITAL]venue for bands, but not the only one - The Middleton and Assembly Halls also features [ITAL]groovy [EITAL]gigs with capacities of 500 each.[PARA][BOLD]Recent band appearances:[EBOLD] Credit to the Nation, Suede, Sister Sledge, The Orb, Bjorn Again, D:Ream, M-People, Therapy?[PARA][BOLD]Cabaret:[EBOLD] 3 times a term at the Wheatsheaf in the Union; recently, Greg Proops.[PARA][BOLD]Others:[EBOLD] Numerous termly balls, annual Athletic and St Patrick's Day Events, etc.[HDNG]EATING OUT:[EHDNG][PARA]The University provides 2 large cafeterias in the Union, open all day and until 10.30 at night. These include the [ITAL]studenty [EITAL]refectory downstairs and the [ITAL]perhaps too civilised [EITAL]Wheatsheaf. There are some provisions in halls of residence - [ITAL]halls offer either choice or quality in food, but not both. [EITAL]Otherwise, students nab a nibble in local shops and cafes of which there are many.[ITAL] Fast food [EITAL][PUSH]push[EPUSH][ITAL]plugs: Peppinos (for pizza) and just about any of the many around the campus. Other [EITAL][PUSH]push[EPUSH][ITAL]plugs: Indian - Ray's Place, Asian Kitchen (open till 3); Chinese - New Garden; Italian and pizzas - Pier Luigi's, Dominic's and Pepi's; Chiquito's (Mexican); Tropicana (Indonesian); Hull Food (popular veggie); Cafe 101/2, posey but cosy; for parents - The Mint, Trios, Ceruttis.
