[HDNG]IN COLLEGE:[EHDNG][PARA][GRPH]A2[EGRPH][STAT][BULL] Self-catering: 12% [BULL] Cost: ú35(30wks)[ESTAT][PARA][BOLD]Availability:[EBOLD] There's a big revamp underway in accommodation, [PARA]which should, by September 1994, lead to 723 self-catering [PARA]places, mainly for first years. We can't comment on the [PARA]architectural loveliness, or otherwise, 'cos we dunno.[PARA][BOLD]Car parking:[EBOLD] Permits are needed although there's a lack of space[PARA]around the halls. There's a car park just down the hill, which [PARA]means that parking on campus doesn't present dilemmas of any [PARA]epic proportion.[HDNG]EXTERNALLY:[EHDNG][PARA][GRPH]A1[EGRPH][STAT][BULL] Renting: 85% [BULL] Ave rent: ú32[ESTAT][PARA][BOLD]Availability:[EBOLD] It may be difficult to find good accommodation, but [PARA]rents reflect quality, rather than a landlord's inner leg [PARA]measurements. Most students try to get a place in Treforest, it [PARA]being nearest the campus ([ITAL]Queen St is the golden prize[EITAL]), but [PARA]inevitably many end up in Ponty which is not only further,[ITAL] but also[PARA]not that welcoming. Merthyr is worse[EITAL]. [ITAL] With a car, the [PARA]surrounding villages become an alternative and it's quite useful for[PARA]jaunts to Cardiff, Ponty or the surrounding hills. Parking isn't too [PARA]easy in Treforest.[EITAL][PARA][BOLD]Housing help:[EBOLD] The University Accommodation Office's 3 staff (1 [PARA]full time) offer a very friendly service, trying to set students up [PARA]with approved landlords and negotiated contracts.[PARA][PARA]
