The [ITAL]dingy, [EITAL][PARA]graffitied C Block is the SU's administrative, welfare and finance [PARA]centre. Ents, communications and more welfare are based on [PARA]the ground floor at Maryland House. It also has offices on most [PARA]other sites. [ITAL] The Union is a vital element of UEL with an [PARA]enormous say in what goes on; it's particularly strong on welfare,[PARA]and specific issues such as racism and the 'no means no' [PARA]campaign.[EITAL][ITAL][HDNG]SU FACILITIES:[EHDNG][EITAL][PARA]Collectively, the various sites of the SU offer 2 bars, 2 cafeterias,[PARA]minibus hire, general shop, cashpoints (Barclays), Endsleigh [PARA]Insurance office, photocopying, phones, photo booth, pool table, [PARA]vending machines and juke box.[HDNG]CLUBS (NON SPORTING):[EHDNG][PARA]Access Skinner; Art, Media, Astrology; Asian; Barking and [PARA]Stratford Popular Front; Bengali; Brewery Advisory; Chinese; [PARA]Erasmus (European students); Expedition; Fashion; Forum; [PARA]French; Greengate Exhibition; Hindu; Hip-Hop; Indian; Irish; Land [PARA]Surveyors; Law; Malaysian; Michael Faraday; Music Paper; [PARA]Pagan; Pakistani; Performing; Playgroup; Psycho; Punjabi; [PARA]Support Club.[HDNG]OTHER ORGANISATIONS:[EHDNG][PARA]There's a monthly paper, 'Overdraft', and 'Pelican' magazine.[HDNG]RELIGIOUS:[EHDNG][PARA][STAT][BULL] 1 chaplain (CofE)[ESTAT][PARA]The Christian Union is large and active, but apart from the Muslim[PARA]prayer room in Barking's T Block, students rely on East London's[PARA][ITAL]plentiful [EITAL]religious facilities. There's a particularly strong Asian [PARA]community and corresponding religions.[HDNG]PAID WORK:[EHDNG][PARA][ITAL]There are more opportunities in London for part-time work than [PARA]anywhere else, but there are also more people trying to get those[PARA]jobs. Students find work in all the usual places like bars and [PARA]restaurants and also in theatres, offices and shops.[EITAL]
