There's a club bar - [ITAL]ie a small one[EITAL][PARA]- at DUS (which isn't the same as DSU, see below).[PARA][BOLD]Theatre:[EBOLD] 1 student theatre [ITAL](a bit run-down, but some good [PARA]productions)[EITAL]; shows are also staged in the SU's main hall.[PARA][BOLD]Cinemas:[EBOLD] Hild/Bede students run a film society which shows [PARA]new releases (Jurassic Park and the like) on a big screen.[PARA][BOLD]Clubs/discos and music venues:[EBOLD] No regular clubs but colleges [PARA]and the SU often host events. Dunelm House has 3 halls to use [PARA]as club and live music venues (caps 750, 250, 100) and colleges [PARA]have smaller facilities - some have customised party rooms. [PARA]Mostly student bands, although the occasional big name (eg [PARA]JTQ), especially at balls. [ITAL]Durham is medium hot on jazz.[EITAL][PARA][BOLD]Balls: [EBOLD]Each college has at least 1 ball a year, costing from a few [PARA]quid to ú130 for a double ticket at Castle's elitist June bash. [ITAL][PARA]Durham's raucous 'Rah' contingent (Sloanes) use them as an [PARA]excellent opportunity to behave badly in posh frocks. As if they [PARA]need an excuse. [EITAL][PARA][BOLD]Others: [EBOLD]Musicon organises regular classical and more populist [PARA]concerts (but not pop) in the Cathedral and around the University.[HDNG]EATING OUT:[EHDNG][PARA]At lunch, students not in their colleges are busy [ITAL]being seen [EITAL][PARA]hanging around the SU's cafeteria. Some may be taking tea in [PARA]Durham's many quaint cafes. At night in town, there's a [PARA]spaghetti junction of Italian restaurants and a few Indian, Chinese,[PARA]American, Pizza delivery and fish'n'chip shops and a late-night [PARA]kebab joint. Country pubs are a good bet for Sunday lunch. [ITAL] [PARA]Nothing more exotic and not much choice for veggies or [PARA]fast-food junkies.[EITAL][PARA][PARA]
