[ESTAT][PARA][ITAL]Both the city and the University are top resorts for the sporty sort.[PARA]The University's record in just about every sport is second only to[PARA]Loughborough and matches the likes of Oxbridge. The emphasis[PARA]is on achievement, but not to the detriment of the less able [PARA]athletes who can and do take part on a broad level even if they [PARA]don't win. Departments will even shift their timetables to allow [PARA]participation in the University's Recreation Programme. As for [PARA]facilities, they would ease a decathlete's soul [EITAL]and the ones that [PARA]aren't free are cheap (eg swimming or tennis court hire 50p).[ITAL][HDNG]SPORTS FACILITIES:[EHDNG][EITAL][PARA]On campus the Munrow Sports Centre has a [ITAL]humungous [EITAL]sports [PARA]hall, martial arts dojo, squash courts, a gym, dance studio, a pool,[PARA]multigym and free weights, and facilities for all manner of indoor [PARA]sports. Near the Centre are outdoor amenities such as an [PARA]all-weather athletics field, floodlit pitch, astroturf pitches, canals [PARA]for canoeing and tennis courts. There are another 70 acres of [PARA]fields further afield at Wast Hills, about 5 minutes from the [PARA]campus by University minibuses. Out on a limb about 165 miles [PARA]north, at Coniston Water in the Lake District, the University has a [PARA]centre for [ITAL]cable knit sweater [EITAL]sports like sailing and rock climbing.[HDNG]SPORTING CLUBS:[EHDNG][PARA]Gymnastics; Hang-Gliding; Jiu Jitsu; Rifle; Women's Football; [PARA]Women's Rugby; Parachuting.[HDNG]ATTRACTIONS:[EHDNG][PARA]Footie fans will of course know all about local teams, Aston Villa,[PARA]West Brom and Birmingham City, and nobody can ignore the [PARA]cricket at Warwickshire's main ground at Edgbaston (Brian Lara [PARA]is a Warwickshire star). There's also Moseley Rugby Football [PARA]Club the Alexander Athletics Stadium, the Horse of the Year [PARA]Show, figure skating at the NEC, and athletics at the Indoor [PARA]Arena, when Wolf and Saracen aren't hogging it.[PARA][PARA]
