---- Install Menu Help ----
Use the UP/DOWN arrows or the TAB/SHIFT+TAB keys to highlight the menu choice that you wish to change.
To change a selection from the current value simply type in the new value. To edit a choice, hit the GREY+ key (on the number pad), this will allow you to edit the current value.
When you have finished and are satisfied with your choices, hit the ENTER key to accept the form. This will start the installation procedure.
DOS Boot Drive
--------------
Specifies the drive letter of the drive containing you CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT files. Install uses the path to your COMMAND.COM file to set the default drive letter.
Path to Install Driver
----------------------
The path that the installation program will use to copy the necessary files to your hard disk. If this directory does not exist, install will create it. Install uses the default drive letter and path \PIONEER.
Host Adapter Installed
----------------------
The type of SCSI host adapter that is cuurently installed in your computer. If your host adapter is not listed, contact you dealer to see if a driver is available for your host adapter. To select a different host adapter 'hit any key', <INS> or <GREY +> key to pull up a menu of host adapters. The following host adapters are supported:
ASPI
DD-C5001
Future Domain
IBM PS/2 SCSI-A
The default host adapter is Future Domain.
MSCDEX Device Name
------------------
This is a unique name used by MSCDEX to communicate with the CD-ROM device driver. The normal convertion is to start with MSCD000, then MSCD001, etc. Install will search your CONFIG.SYS file and choose the next available name.
Use EMS Memory
--------------
MSCDEX is able to use EMS memory to store its data buffers. By using EMS memory you can free up DOS memory. Install will test for EMS memory and will install EMS support by default if present.
Number of CD-ROM Discs
----------------------
This is the number of CD-ROM discs that will be loaded in to the 6 disc magazine. The default is to support 6 discs.
SCSI ID of Drive
----------------
The driver needs to know the SCSI ID of the CD-ROM drive. This number is set by the switches on the rear of the drive. This number must match the setting of the attached CD-ROM drive. The default is ID=0.
Host Adapter Number
-------------------
If more than 1 host adapter is installed in your computer you need to specify the (host number-1) of the host adapter that your CD-ROM minichanger is connected. For example: if your drive is connected to the second host adapter this number should be (2-1) or 1. The default is Host=0.
Install Pioneer CDP Support
---------------------------
The DRD600.SYS device driver has an optional CDP device that can be used to send mnemonic commands to the CD-ROM drive. This must be loaded to use the MPC.COM program that is included with the drive. The default is to install the CDP device.
Advanced Options
----------------
If you are not familiar with MSCDEX we do not recommend that you select this option but to use the default settings. To access the Advanced option menu, hit the <INS> or <GREY +> keys. This will cause a second window to pop up and allow you to change the MSCDEX options.#
---- Help for Main Menu ----
Use the UP/DOWN arrow keys, or the TAB/SHIFT+TAB, to highlight the correct menu choice. When the choice that you wish to select is highlighted, hit the ENTER key to execute the selection.
Install DRM-604X/600 Drivers
----------------------------
Select this option if you have not already installed the CD-ROM device drivers for the DRM-600. This will pop up a new menu that will allow you to change the default installation options.
Select this menu option to exit the installation procedure.M
---- Advanced MSCDEX Install Options ----
Use the UP/DOWN or TAB/SHIFT+TAB keys to hightlight the selection that you wish to change. When the proper selection is highlighted, type the new value that you wish to enter.
Starting Device Letter
----------------------
By default MSCDEX will start lettering CD-ROM drives with the next available drive letter. By entering a drive letter here you can specify the first drive letter for MSCDEX to use.
Install Kanji Support
---------------------
Tells MSCDEX to load in support for the Kanji (Japanese) file system.
Install MS-NET Support
----------------------
Instructs MSCDEX to install netwrok support to allow sharing of CD-ROM drives on MS-NET based networks.
Number of MSCDEX Buffers
------------------------
By default MSCDEX will load a number of buffers equal to 4 times the number of CD-ROM discs. You can increase this number by entering a new value. Each buffer is 2048 bytes. If EMS memory is available it is a good idea to increase this number.
Provide Memory Statistics
-------------------------
If enabled, this will instruct MSCDEX to report all of its memory statistics when loaded.
Lastdrive =
-----------
DOS needs drive letter in the "lastdrive=" statement in the config.sys file to be greater than the last CD-ROM drive letter. If you are using a network redirector, like Novell, you may need to alter this line. Novell will usually install its first drive letter one after the lastdrive= drive letter. The installation program defaults to "Lastdrive=Z".
Number of Discs in 2nd Drive
----------------------------
Specifies the number of CD-ROM discs that are installed in the magazine loaded in the 2nd CD-ROM minichanger. Note: the installation program uses this field to determine if a second CD-ROM drive is connected. If you do not have a second CD-ROM drive leave this field set to 0.
SCSI ID of 2nd Drive
--------------------
The SCSI ID of the 2nd CD-ROM drive, if installed.
Host ID of 2nd Drive
--------------------
The host adapter number of the 2nd CD-ROM minichanger, if installed.
