Thank you for using Behind the Magic: Vehicles Special
Edition(tm). We recommend that you read this file to get the most
up to date information about installing, running, and navigating
through this program.
For additional information and in-depth technical documentation
about specific hardware, we recommend reading the Online
Troubleshooting Guide which can be accessed by clicking on
Readme & Troubleshooting on the Behind the Magic: Vehicles
Special Edition Launcher.

About Behind the Magic: Vehicles Special Edition
Available Fall 1998, the complete Behind the Magic collection
offers a comprehensive, media rich guide to Star Wars both on
screen and behind the scenes.
This special version focuses on the Vehicles section of Behind
the Magic. The complete Behind the Magic collection will include
seven other equally expansive modules which will cover:
Characters (Main Characters, Aliens and Creatures, Groups and
Organizations); More Technology (Weapons and Devices); Behind the
Scenes (about the film makers, processes, and companies); Events
(complete timelines); Locations and Expanded Universe (toys,
collectibles, and other tie-ins). The complete collection will
also include a first look at the upcoming Star Wars: Episode I
motion picture as well as a Glossary section and many more
trivia questions.

System Requirements
-------------------
Computer: 100% Windows 95 DirectX compatible computer
required. Compatible with Windows 98.
Graphics Card: PCI Graphics card required.
CD-ROM: Quad speed IDE or SCSI CD-ROM Drive required
CPU: Pentium 133 or faster required.
Memory: 16MB RAM required.
Sound Card: 100% Windows 95/98 compatible 16-bit sound card
required.
Input Device: 100% Windows 95/98 compatible mouse required.
DirectX: Microsoft DirectX 5.2 is available on this disk
and must be installed to run Behind the
Magic: Vehicles Special Edition.
Note: Your system may require the "latest" Windows 95
drivers for your particular hardware.
INSTALLING Behind the Magic: Vehicles Special Edition
-----------------------------------------------------
Installation:
1. Close all open windows and quit all other applications.
2. Put the Behind the Magic: Vehicles Special Edition disc in
your CD-ROM Drive.
3. If Autoplay is enabled on your machine, the Installer should
automatically appear. If the Installer does not open,
double-click the My Computer icon, then double-click
on the CD-ROM icon in the window that opens. If the Installer
still does not open, double-click on the Behind_VSE.EXE file
to run the program.
4. Click on the Install Behind the Magic: Vehicles button and
follow the onscreen directions to install the program on your
system.
Behind the Magic needs to have DirectX 5.2 installed to run.
During the installation of Behind the Magic, you will be prompted
to install DirectX 5.2 if it is not already installed on your
system. If you are using Windows 98, do not install DirectX
because it is integrated with the Operating System.
Launching:
Once installed, Behind the Magic can be launched by clicking on
the Start menu and choosing Programs\LucasArts\Behind the Magic
Vehicles\Behind the Magic Vehicles or by reinserting the disc in
your CD-ROM drive (if Autoplay is enabled). In the Launcher,
click Start Star Wars: Behind the Magic Vehicles to launch the
program.
If you have any problems installing or running the Behind the
Magic: Vehicles Special Edition, please consult the
Troubleshooting Guide (click on the "Readme and Troubleshooting"
button on the launcher, then on "Troubleshooting Guide" on the
secondary launcher).
Using Behind the Magic: Vehicles Special Edition
------------------------------------------------
Keyboard Commands
-----------------
ESC Closes the window that is currently open
During a Video or Audio Clip: Cancels the
current clip being displayed or played.
Left/Right Arrow Scrolls through images in the Image
Gallery and Behind the Scenes images.
Windows Volume
--------------
On some machine configurations, the Windows desktop wave
volume may be set to full after exiting Behind the Magic:
Vehicles Special Edition.
Desktop Color Palette
---------------------
We recommend that you set your desktop to High Color (16 bit)
color. When running Behind the Magic: Vehicles Special Edition
with your desktop set to a color palette other than 16 bit, you
may experience various problems while running the game.
Task Switching (ALT-TAB)
------------------------
We recommend that you do not task switch while running Behind
the Magic: Vehicles Special Edition if your desktop palette is
not set to 16 bit color. At the time of release of this demo,
we have seen problems while task-switching on various video cards
that can cause the demo to lock up or quit unexpectedly.
CTRL-ESC
--------
We recommend that you do not use CTRL-ESC while running the demo.
Operating Systems Supported
---------------------------
To be able to run Behind the Magic: Vehicles Special Edition,
you must have Windows 95 as your operating system and your system
must be 100% DirectX compatible. This program is Windows 98
compatible, but upon release of this program, Windows 98 had just
released so we were unable to verify full compatibility with this
operating system and all hardware configurations. If you
experience any problems when running Behind the Magic: Vehicles
Special Edition in Windows 98, please check with the manufacturer
of your video card and sound card to assure that you have the
latest Windows 98 drivers for your computer hardware. MS-DOS,
Windows 3.1x, Windows NT 3.x, Windows NT 4.0 and OS/2 are not
supported. For more information on DirectX, see Section 4 of the
Troubleshooting Guide.
