ADDFB.EXE and CD_ADD.EXE by Mark McKay
Utilities for MONSTER DISC, INC., "The Shareware Database CD-ROM"
Note this program is intended for use with the MONSTER DISC INC "The
Shareware Database" CD-ROM. It probably won't work with any others.
You *MUST* do the following first.
1. Backup your OLD FBOARDS.DAT First!!!!! (<- note you've been warned)
2. Add the CD directories to your FBOARDS.DAT in your TAG file area editor
or use the accompanying file ADDFB.EXE.
3. Do a new scan in your file areas so that blank *.DIR files are created
in your Data files directory.
Run ADDFB from the SAME directory as your FBOARDS.DAT.
To run ADDFB.EXE use the following parameters:
ADDFB <1.> <2.>
1. drive letter of CD player
2. path for uploads (not the CD)
ex. ADDFB E D:\UPLOAD would create data entries in the FBOARDS.DAT by
reading the FILES.RA in the root directory of the CD, changing the drive
letter from the FILES.RA to the proper one in your FBOARDS.DAT.
It gives a default (unchangable DSL of 30 and SeenamesDSL of 255).
The area type is set to CD-ROM.
Then you'll need to load up TAG, go into your file area, and then SCAN
all the directories so that NEW blank *.DIR files are created in your
gfiles directory.
Once you've done all that then run CD_ADD as follows
CD_ADD <1.> <2.>
1. Drive letter of CD ROM drive - (ie, D or E whatever
just the letter, no ":" ).
2. Name of your Datafiles directory. (ex. C:\BBS\DFILES).
ex. CD_ADD E D:\TAG\GFILES would look for the FILES.BBS in every file area
on drive E: and add to all the *.DIR files in D:\TAG\GFILES directory.
CD_ADD will create a directory entry for each file in the FILES.BBS on the CD
(with only the first line of the description), making the uploader "The Sysop",
File points as zero (does anyone really use this????), the upload date as today
and the file blocks.
I don't TAG anymore and just set it up long enough to do some quick tests.
There is little to no error checking so if it crashes I apologize. It
worked twice for me. (it takes about an hour to add all the 6000+ files
on a 386/25.)
