To reconstitute a dehydrated meal, the astronaut injects water into the plastic-wrapped food pouch. The food is then heated in the oven. Meals are eaten directly from specially designed packages and cans that rest on a metal tray that is clipped onto a table or seat. All utensils have magnets to hold them in place on the tray.
