Transcription: Once the shuttle reaches its proper altitude, the orbital maneuvering system thrusters and reaction control engines are used to maintain the shuttle's orbit and to aid in spacecraft maneuvers. After final orbit has been reached, the cargo bay doors must be opened to allow heat buildup in the vehicle to escape. Failure to do so could result in an aborted mission.
