Transcription: The magnetic field experiment was developed by an Italian professor who wanted to map the levels and fluctuations of magnetic fields around the satellite. This experiment increased shuttle engineers further understanding of the payload's influence on orbiter performance. In order to document this influence, two magnetometers were placed on the Eureka satellite to accurately measure magnetic fields. By analyzing the measurements of these instruments, scientists could later gauge magnetic field disturbances caused by satellite batteries, motors and power systems.
