Transcription: In meiosis, one chromosome division and two cell division stages occur, resulting in four sex cells from one parent cell, each with half the number of chromosomes. The chromosomes become more distinct and appear as single threads. Each thread, however, has actually become a double strand of two identical chromatids. The centrioles replicate and move apart.
