PLAYING THE GAME :-)
------------------------------------------------------------------------
To start, quit from whatever you're reading this from and type:
VMIND [enter]
If it dumps you back to DOS with an error message, please skip to
the end of this document to get help.
While you are playing you can press 's' to toggle sound on/off, or
'p' to pause. Press escape to abort the game.
-=Tips on playing=-
* Use your mouse to move around. If you find this difficult, don't worry,
it's just a game and you're going to die eventually anyway.
* Press the left or right mouse button to rotate. To pick up a coloured
ball, move into it with the matching coloured side of your circle facing
it. (You'll soon discover what I mean).
* If you aren't facing the correct way when you move into a ball, you will
loose an energy unit. These are displayed on the top-left of you screen.
The game finishes when you run out of energy.
* To score points, you must give the coloured balls to it's hand on the
side of the screen. If you try to give a ball to the wrong hand, it won't
close.
* The more coloured balls you are holding, the slower you move.
* To gain energy units, pick up the white spinning things that originate
from the middle of the screen.
* The frequency at which balls appear gradually increases. >:-)

Switch Explanation
-------- -------------------
-? Show list of switches
-nosound Turns off all sound
-pcsound Force pc speaker sound
-adlib Force Adlib/Sound Blaster sound
-nofade Turn off fades. For impatient people (:
-mouse Don't check for mouse
-vga Don't check for VGA *
* only do this if you're COMPLETELY sure you have VGA. I wouldn't like to
see what happens if you try this on an EGA or CGA video card. :-#
An example:
VMIND -nosound -nofade [enter]

Running Vmind from Windows
------------------------------------------------------------------------
You can run Vmind from Windows, but it goes all jerky and stoppy-starty.
I would recommend that you quit Windows and then run Vmind. If you manage
to get Vmind running under Windows nicely, please write to me and tell me
how you did it so that I can put it in the next version (A cunning .pif
file or something).
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Problems? Arrrrgh! Oooohnooo! =:-0
------------------------------------------------------------------------
To run, Velcro Mind needs: - 200k free conventional memory
- A mouse with driver installed
- VGA
Error messages:
---------------
'Mouse not installed.'
If you have a mouse, make sure that you have installed the mouse driver.
(usually c:\mouse\mouse or similar). If you are _sure_ you have the mouse
installed, but Vmind fails to detect it, you can use the '/mouse' switch to
skip mouse detection.
'File missing:'
There is a file missing. Make sure you are in the correct directory
when you run Vmind.
'You need VGA or better to play.'
If you have an EGA, or CGA card, you will not be able to play. If you are
sure you have VGA, but still get this error message, use the'/VGA' switch
to skip VGA detection...
NOTE :
only do this if you're COMPLETELY sure you have VGA. I wouldn't like to
see what happens if you try this on an EGA or CGA video card. :-#
'Sorry, you don't have enough free memory.'
Vmind only needs 200k to run, but if you should get this error message,
you need to quit any open programs and then try again.
Unexplained Crashes
-------------------
First make sure your computer meets the system requirements. (see the
top of this section).
If your system freezes when you try to play Vmind, it may because of
your sound card (or my coding (:). Try typing Vmind -pcsound [enter].
If you are running Vmind from Windows, try quitting Windows and then
running Vmind.
If neither of these work, try clean booting before running Vmind
(remembering to install your mouse). If this doesn't work either, I
don't know what the hell is going wrong.
