the JELLY BEAN FACTORY
------------------------
Requirements
------------
In order to run properly, the JELLY BEAN FACTORY requires the
following:
- 286 MINIMUM, 386 highly recommended for good quality music
- VGA card
- a hard drive with at least 1.2 Megs of free space
- 370k RAM min., 540k for full music and sound effects
In addition, the JELLY BEAN FACTORY also supports:
- SOUND BLASTER for digitized music and sound effects
- SOUND BLASTER PRO for STEREO digitized music and sound effects
- Joystick
WARNING: the JELLY BEAN FACTORY was not designed to run under Windows,
OS/2 or desqview, and as such, will not work properly when
run from them.
NOTE: If the game is operating slow, then try decreasing the sound quality
option in the config program (see setup and sound card details).
Installation
------------
Before you can play the JELLY BEAN FACTORY, you must first run
INSTALL.EXE to extract the files, and set up your sound card and input
device. The installation program will ask for the drive and directory
you want the JELLY BEAN FACTORY installed to. Installation could take up
to six minutes depending on computer speed, so be patient.
Setup
-----
The setup program is automatically executed at the end of the
installation process. To customize the setup configuration, run the
program CONFIG.EXE. The following briefly explains the setup options.
Sound Card
----------
If you have a SOUND BLASTER, SOUND BLASTER PRO, or
compatible sound card, then you can enjoy the full gaming
experience with the excellent digitized music and sound effects.
NOTE: If you do not have such a sound card, then be sure to
select NO SOUND at the sound card menu option.
Pro Audio Spectrum users must select the Sound Blaster
option in the setup program, and choose the settings
corresponding to the SOUND BLASTER section of the card. Refer
to your sound card manual for more information.
Input Device
------------
This is where you select whether you want to use the
keyboard or a joystick. If you select joystick, and one is not
available when the game is loaded, then it will return to
keyboard operation.
If you choose to use a joystick, it will ask you to center
the joystick and press any key, and then to move the joystick in
all directions, and press any key.
Sound Quality
-------------
This game uses special digitized music which requires a lot
of the CPU's time, and because of this, this option has been
added so that slower computers can still enjoy the great music
and sound effects. For better sound clarity, use a higher setting.
For a slow computer, try using the lower settings (6-10 kHz),
and slowly increase the setting until the game runs slower.
NOTE: It IS possible that some slow computers will not even be able to
handle the lowest quality setting.
Loading the JELLY BEAN FACTORY
------------------------------
Once the JELLY BEAN FACTORY has been installed, type JELLY to load
the game.
