  21. Installation
  22. ------------
  23. 1. Create a directory e.g. 'C:\Program Files\MBProbe'.
  24. 2. Extract the files into a that directory using your favourite archiver
  25.    e.g. Info-ZIP, PKZip or WinZip.
  26. 3. Create shortcuts in the start menu and, optionally, in the Startup group.
  27. 4. If you are using Windows NT 4 or Windows 2000, you need to install the
  28.    giveio.sys to allow MBProbe access to the I/O ports.
  29.    Ensure you are logged on as a member of the administrators group.
  30.    Then, run NTINST which automatically installs the driver as a service.

  32. Running MBProbe
  33. ---------------
  34. 1. Check techinfo.txt for motherboard-specific settings.
  35. 2. Socket-7 users will need a CPU temperature offset. Check techinfo.txt.
  36. 3. Adjust the temperature and fan labels to match your board.
  37. 4. Adjust the fan divisors as low as possible without the fan speed reading
  38.    dropping to zero.
  39. 5. Check 'known issues' in the manual if you have problems.
  40. 6. Read the FAQ if you have more problems.
  41. 7. If you can't solve them, then e-mail me using the template below.

  43. Uninstallation
  44. --------------
  45. 1. If you are using Windows NT 4 or Windows 2000, you need to uninstall the
  46.    giveio.sys driver. Quit MBProbe first.
  47.    Ensure you are logged on as a member of the administrators group.
  48.    Then, run "NTINST -uninstall" from the command prompt to automatically
  49.    uninstall the driver.
  50. 2. Delete the directory you installed MBProbe into
  51.    e.g. "C:\Program Files\MBProbe".
  52. 3. Remove the shortcuts from the start menu and the Startup group.
  53. 4. Remove the registry key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Jonathan Teh\MBProbe".
  54. 5. MBProbe files, program group and registry settings have been removed.

  65. Feedback is needed from users with a monitoring chip listed as untested (see
  66. known issues).

  68. When submitting bug reports, please include the following information:
  69. o Operating system (e.g. Windows 95, 98 or NT4)
  70. o CPU brand, model, clock/bus speed, voltage (e.g. Intel PII 350/100 2.0V)
  71. o Motherboard brand and model (e.g. Asus P2B, Abit BX6)
  72. o Hardware monitoring chip(s) detected by MBProbe
  73. o Hardware monitoring chip(s) actually present in system
  74. o All readings reported by MBProbe
  75. o What the actual readings are and how they were measured (e.g. BIOS/probe)
  76. o Description of problem
  77. o Your attempts to solve it
