Title : Treehouses
Author : RocketBoy
E-mail : tomw@earthlink.net
Web Page : http://www.earthlink.net/~tomw
Author Greets & Thanks: 3DRealms. The people at TEN (http://www.ten.net)
where I have had a blast multiplayer dukematching
via the internet for free during the beta period
these past few months, and to all my friends
and foes on TEN.
The Setting : A tree canopy covered forest clearing with
eight elevator-accessible treehouses stretching
up into the sky above the canopy.
The Story : You and seven buddies are hiking and hunting in
an unexplored forest, drinking a hell of a lot
of beer along the way. After awhile, having
become very drunk and travelled deep inside the
forest, you come across this shaded clearing in
the woods. Eight huge trees loom before you,
their trunks stretching high into the sky, their
branches and leaves forming a large canopy above
the clearing. One of your friends notices that
the trees are hollowed out. He stands inside of
one and shouts "Hey guys! I can fit inside it!".
No sooner do the words leave his mouth then he is
sucked up inside the tree, a mechanical elevator-
like sound emanating from the tree as he rises
within. While the rest of you stand there with
shocked looks on your faces your friend comes
back down the tree-elevator and tells you about
the eight treehouses he found atop the canopy of
trees.
"There's all kinds of weapons and ammo in each
treehouse...", he explains. "Two of the tree-
houses, the ones in the middle, are really
huge, and they are the only ones with locking
doors and viewscreens that can see into the
other treehouses." A collective "wow!" is
heard as everyone rushes to the treehouse
elevators and zooms up to see for themselves.
You end up in a treehouse with an RPG in it,
immediately grabbing it and some ammo as you
say "Awesome!" to yourself. You pop open your
treehouse's firing window and notice that your
friends are doing the same in their treehouses.
Everyone is excited and talking to eachother
about what cool weapons they found in their
respective treehouses. You're sure that they
are all just dying to know what you found in
your treehouse so you shout "Hey guys! Look
what I found!", as you simultaneously launch
a couple of RPG rounds into an adjacent fort,
blowing one of your onlooking friends into
giblets. As you're laughing your ass off at
the look he had on his face just before getting
blown to bits by your RPG, you notice a blast
of devastator rockets coming at you from a
nearby treehouse. You quickly close your
treehouse firing window and duck for cover
just in a nick of time and breathe a brief
sigh of relief while reloading your weapon.
The battle has begun . . .
Your Mission : Kick everyone's ass. Take no prisoners. All
campers must die. All non-campers must die.
Everyone must die. Yup, you get the picture.
Unlock the doors to the secret anarchy room high
atop the fluffy white clouds and amaze and amuse
your friends as you spy on them in their
treehouses and then selectively blow them to
giblets with hidden C-9 tanks detonated at your
leisure.

Co-Op Level : Nope
DukeMatch Level : Most definetely
Difficulty Settings : No
* Construction *
Base : Brand spankin' new level from scratch, my 4th map!
Editor(s) used : That one build thingy
Known Bugs : Lucky me... haven't found any so far, knock wood.
Let me know if you see any.
Construction Notes : Well this is my fourth map so far, and I was
pleasantly surprised that it went pretty
smoothly and only took me a few days of on/off
work to complete it. I was also pleasantly
surprised that I was finally able to achieve
and maintain a decent framerate in this map
(30 fps and above), unlike my last three maps.
Hopefully the framerate is good enough that the
map can be played on TEN. We'll see.
* Where to get this MAP file *
You have it already... duh.
