The line SHELL=C:\COMMAND.COM /E:256 /P, which tells DOS the
location of the command interpreter and the default size of
the DOS environment, is one of the most important statements
in my CONFIG.SYS file. But one thing about this line isn't
documented, at least in the DOS versions I use (MS-DOS 3.30
and PC-DOS 4.01). If you add an /F parameter to the end of
this command, as in SHELL=C:\COMMAND.COM /E:256 /P /F, DOS
defaults to FAIL whenever it hits an `Abort, Retry, Fail?'
prompt.
Once you add the /F parameter, DOS doesn't wait for user
input after the `Abort, Retry, Fail?' message, but responds
with the prompt `Current drive is no longer valid.'
