  27.  the NON-commercial users also must pay for a license, second because
  28.  the US dollar has a very low transfer rate.

  34.  - Users of the CDU-package must accept this disclaimer of warranty:

  36.  - The CDU-package is supplied as is.  The author disclaims all
  37.    warranties, expressed or implied, including, without limitation,
  38.    the warranties of merchantability and of fitness for any purpose.
  39.    The author assumes no liability for damages, direct or consequential,
  40.    which may result from the use of the CDU-package;
  41.  
  42.  - The CDU-package is a "shareware program" and is provided at no charge
  43.    to the user for evaluation.  Feel free to share it with your friends,
  44.    but please do not give it away altered or as part of another system.
  45.    The essence of "user-supported" software is to provide personal
  46.    computer users with quality software without high prices, and yet to
  47.    provide incentive for programmers to continue to develop new products.

  49.  - If you find this program useful and find that you are using and
  50.    continue the use of the CDU-package after a 30 days trial period,
  51.    you must register the CDU-package as described below;

  53.  - Non-commercial can get a licence for the usage up to this release
  54.    of the CDU-package for free. Look into the details in REGISTER.CDU
  55.    For Non-commercial users there is a POSSIBILITY to submit to one
  56.    of the special contracts as explained in the file REGISTER.CDU;

  58.  - Commercial usage of CDU will cost some money. Also, a so called
  59.    'closed' Bulletin Board System (a system where the user must pay
  60.    direct to the SysOp to get full access) is considered as a com-
  61.    mercial user. Both types of users should look into the details in
  62.    REGISTER.CDU;

  64.  - The registration of the CDU-package will licence ONE copy for use on
  65.    any computer at any one time, as long as the usage confirms to the
  66.    type of registration you have done (so NON-commercial usage when you
  67.    have a non-commercial licence);
  68.  
  69.  - Anyone distributing the CDU-package for any kind of remuneration must
  70.    first contact the Author at the address above for authorization;
  71.  
  72.  - You are encouraged to pass a copy of the CDU-package along to your
  73.    friends for evaluation.  Please encourage them to register their
  74.    copy if they find that they can use it;
  75.  
  76.  - Support on CDU, when used in a non-commercial environment, is
  77.    available by means of written letters or by entering the inter-
  78.    national echomaol area DISP;
  79.  
  80.  - Problems and suggestions can be entered in the FidoNet <tm> Echomail
  81.    conference <tm> called DISP (international). Entering this echo does
  82.    not exclude you of the duty to register the CDU-package, though users
  83.    who evaluate the product can enter the echo for questions;

  85.  - The CDU-package, all programs, the documentation and support-files are
  86.    copyrighted 1990,91 by Robert W. van Hoeven, PO. Box 131, Badhoevedorp
  87.    1170AC, Holland. All rights are reserved. The original CATDISK <tm>
  88.    program is NOT included. You must obtain it at one of your local BBS
  89.    system. CATDISK <tm> is copyrighted 1986,91 by Rick Hillier;

  91.  - You may copy this package for backup puposes. Also you may copy and
  92.    share unmodified copies of the whole package, providing that the
  93.    the copyright notice is reproduced and included on all copies.
  94.    Excluded from this statement are the support-files written by other
  95.    authors. Please refer to the documentation of these programs for
  96.    copyrights and licence agreements;

  98.  - It is forbidden to modify, adapt, translate, reverse engineer, de-
  99.    compile and/or disassemble the software in the CDU-package. Patching
  100.    the medium at places that carry the software is seen as a program
  101.    change and is also forbidden;

  103.  - Performing any of the illegal actions as stated in the previous
  104.    lines, is a theft and no fair play to the author and, more important,
  105.    to the registered users;
  106.  
  107.  - Bulletin Board Systems that distribute the CDU package can convert
  108.    the WHOLE package to any archive-system they like but all original
  109.    files must be included in the new archive. The CDU-package on the
  110.    Bulletin Board can contain at the most 2 extra files. These files
  111.    can only be a commercial for that Bulletin Board and/or validation
  112.    data that is presented as a service to all users and shall have no
  113.    other functions;

  115.  - After the normal trial period of 30 days, you must register the soft-
  116.    ware (see REGISTER.CDU) or you must remove it from your PC;
  117.  
  118.  - Most important, you should register the original CATDISK <tm> package;
  119.  
  120.  - Comments, suggestions and bug reports are welcome and will be answered
  121.    as soon I have the time to do so. You can send me a letter of leave a
  122.    NetMail <tm> message named to Rob Van.hoeven (mind the point) on node

  134.  There are several ways to register the usage of the CDU-package. All
  135.  is depending on the environment where CDU will be running.
  136.

  138.  NON-Commercial registration
  139.  ────────────────────────────────────

  141.  When you use CDU in a non-commercial environment, the registration is
  142.  simple and rather cheap if you consider all the time I have put into
  143.  this product. As NON-commercial user, you must only send me a post-
  144.  card, stating that you are using one or more programs from the CDU
  145.  package.

  148.  Commercial registration

  151.  When you use CDU in a commercial environment or when you use CDU on
  152.  a so called 'closed' BBS (this is a BBS where the users must pay to
  153.  the Sysop to get full access), you must pay for a license to use CDU.
  154.  Payment of the registration fee, entitles you to:
  155.  
  156.  - The license for running ONE copy of the CDU-package in a commercial
  157.    environment on any computer at any one time;
  158.  
  159.  - A diskette with the latest copy of the CDU-package on 5 1/4 or
  160.    3 1/2 inch diskette (360/720 Kb);
  161.  
  162.  - A special file to enter the name of the owner (company) in the
  163.    header of CDU. This file can be used on subsequent releases, also
  164.    those releases obtained from Shareware sources like a BBS;
  165.  
  166.  - The license for a 'closed' BBS can not be used in any other commer-
  167.    cial environment than the BBS itself. Upgrading to a 'normal' com-
  168.    mercial license can be done by paying the difference in price;
  169.  
  170.  The license does NOT include any update service as described later
  171.  nor does it include the 90 days support contract.

  173.  The price for a commercial license is US $ 50,-- for a normal
  174.  commercial user or US $ 25,-- for a 'closed' BBS.

  177.  Update service

  180.  Both commercial AND non-commercial users can enter the update ser-
  181.  vice. International users who use CDU commercial or non-commercial
  182.  will benefit most of this feature. Paying the fee for update service,
  183.  entitles you to:

  185.  - Receiving every new release (minor AND major) for the period of
  186.    one year or 10 releases (which ever comes first) on diskette
  187.    media by first-class Airmail;
  188.  
  189.  - The updates will be send the same day the new release is submitted
  190.    to the support BBS (2:512/100 in Holland);
  191.  
  192.  - The diskettes are first-class (no no-name or white diskettes) and
  193.    will contain a special diskette label;
  194.  
  195.  The price for update service is US $ 30,-- for 5 1/2 inch (360Kb) dis-
  196.  kettes and US $ 40,-- for 3 1/2 inch (720Kb) diskettes.

  199.  Paying

  202.  - By postal money order or international money order. Normal cheques
  203.    (if they are not EuroCheques) will cost me extra money to transfer,
  204.    so add US $ 10,-- for transfer if you use such a cheque. Cheques
  205.    that can not be collected within a reasonable time, are returned to
  206.    the sender;

  214.   - Sending money directly, but please make sure you send it with
  215.     some kind of safety, so you can make sure yourself that I received
  216.     the money. When you send money, you can also send money in your
  217.     own currency, but make sure to use a valid exchange rate. This is
  218.     the exchange rate on the day you send the money to me;

  220.  In NO way I can accept credit-card transfers. If you are not sure,
  221.  please contact me by normal mail !

  223.  Dutch users can also pay in dutch money. Transfer the amount of dutch
