[LtCyan]Changing Last Read Pointers [cyan]
The R command will allow to change your personal last read pointers saved
by the BBS system.
The R command has several different formats to change your pointers.
[yellow] Option Format
[white]1[ltcyan])[cyan] R *
[white]2[ltcyan])[cyan] R * value
[white]3[ltcyan])[cyan] R [area# or name] [area# or name].....[area# or name]
[white]4[ltcyan])[cyan] R [area# or name] [area# or name].....[area# or name] = value
[white]5[ltcyan])[cyan] Explain the value part of the format
[white]L[ltcyan])[green] What are Last Read Pointers anyway?
[white]Q[ltcyan])[white] Quit This Explaination
[yellow]Enter the option to explain the format: [cyan][menu]12345LQ|

[:one]
[white] R * [cyan]
This command will display each selected mail conferences and allow
you to change the last read pointer, one by one.
You must select some conferences in order for this to work.

[:two]
[white]R * value [cyan]
This command will automatically set the last read pointer to the
value given for each selected mail conference.
You must select some conferences in order for this to work.
Examples:
R * 20
Set last read pointers in selected conferences to 20.
R * HIGH-30
Set the last read pointers in selected conferences to 30 below the
highest. This allows you to download the last 30 messages in each
selected conference.
See the VALUE command for more explaination.

[:value]
[white]Defining the VALUE to reset your last read pointer.[cyan]
Value can be any of the following:
number - Set the last read pointer to the number
LAST-amount - Set the last reader pointer to the amount BELOW
the current last read pointer
LAST+amount - Set the last reader pointer to the amount ABOVE the
current last read pointer
HIGH-amount - Set the last reader pointer to the amount BELOW the
current last read pointer
HIGH+amount - Set the last reader pointer to the amount ABOVE the
current last read pointer.
Of course, this is not logical. The last read
pointer can never be above the highest value.
Xpress will set it to the highest.

[:three]
[white]R [area# or name] [area# or name].....[area# or name][cyan]
This will display the areas provided, one by one, and allow you
to change the last read pointer for each one.
Example:
R 20 32 2 4 5
In this example, you are asking Xpress to display area 2, 4, 5
20 and 32 and allow you to change the last read pointer for
each one.
[white][pause]
[jump]top
[:four]
[white]R [area# or name] [area# or name].....[area# or name] = value[cyan]
This will display the areas provided, but automatically change the
last read pointer to value.
Example:
R 1 4 7 23 = HIGH-20
This example will set the last read pointer to 20 messages below
the highest for areas 1, 4, 7 and 23 automatically.
This means you will only get the last 20 messages in those
particular areas.

[white]What are Last Read Pointers anyway?[cyan]
The last read pointers are markers maintained by the BBS and by Xpress
to indicate where exactly in the mail system you last read your mail.
This allows for the BBS and Xpress to quickly find all new messages
beginning from the last one you read.
Normally, as a Xpress user, you do not need to play with your last
read pointers. However, there are times when you may want to alter
the last read pointers to either get MORE mail or get LESS mail or
to basically restart from the beginning.
The unique Xpress FLEX COMMAND system will allow you direct control
over the amount of mail you want, so typically, you do not need to
change your last read pointers. You will see the FLEX option when
you perform a mail scan.
