  4.                        Using WINDEMO.EXE

  11. WINDEMO.EXE is similar in content to the Interactive CodeBase for DOS
  12. (CID).  The major difference is that WINDEMO.EXE is a Microsoft Windows
  13. application and must be run from Microsoft Windows.  Please note that this 
  14. demo was written using CodeBase 4.5 and that our current version, CodeBase 5,
  15. has some additional functionality that was not included in the demo.

  17. To invoke WINDEMO.EXE, do one of the following:
  18.  
  19.    a) Enter Window's File Manager and click on the appropriate drive and menu
  20.       structures until WINDEMO.EXE is displayed on the right side.
  21.       Double click on the file name to execute WINDEMO.EXE.
  22.  
  23.    b) Choose the File | Run menu option and specify the drive, path, and
  24.       name for WINDEMO.EXE.
  25.  
  26.    c) Add WINDEMO.EXE to an existing group file and double click on the icon,
  27.       or
  28.  
  29.    d) Specify WINDEMO.EXE at the command line when Windows is invoked.
  30.       (eg.  c:> WIN WINDEMO.EXE )

  33. Once WINDEMO is running, you are presented with two menu options:
  34.  
  35. Interactive CodeBase      This option lets you interactively try out all
  36.                            of the CodeBase functions and watch their return
  37.                            values.  This demo application was written with
  38.                            CodeBase 4.5 (a previous version of CodeBase) and 
  39.                            a windows SDK.  For a simple walk through of
  40.                            some of the CodeBase 5 functions, read 
  41.                            Interactive CodeBase for DOS help file 
  42.                            (INTERACT.HLP).

  44. Browse/Edit Utility        This demo application, written with CodeBase 4.5 
  45.                            using a Windows SDK, demonstrates many of the 
  46.                            high level functions of CodeBase.  Using this 
  47.                            demo, you can pack, zap, seek, skip, reindex, 
  48.                            insert, etc.

  50. All CodeBase functions are completely accessable from Windows.
  51. You can choose to link in the CodeBase code statically with a static library,
  52. or dynamically with the provided Dynamic Link Library.  Either way,
  53. you can distribute your executables (and our DLL) royalty free.
