  45. To orient yourself by using the sun or moon:  Insert a short stick
  46. in the ground and mark where the tip of its shadow falls. One hour
  47. later, mark again.  The line between these marks is roughly east-
  48. west, and the stick is on the south side of the line.  This could
  49. also be done by visually noting the direction of the sun or moon,
  50. but using the stick method is much more accurate and foolproof.
