  1.                      About Our Catalog Engine

  3. Thanks for you interest in THE WHIZ - our catalog system on disk that 
  4. can be used as a disk catalog for advertising of almost any type of 
  5. product. In this evaluation version most of our example listings and
  6. display screens are set up for use as a software distributor. 
  7.  
  8. If you wish to have a catalog for distribution of books, records, new or
  9. used equipment, parts, seeds, etc. all you need to do is modify the 
  10. existing ".DAT" files, or make your own, to suit your product.

  12. We provide the engine to display your choice of almost any product that
  13. you may wish to distribute.
  14.  
  15. Once the initial setup is made, you will be ready to display all of your
  16. titles for each category. You may list and display as many titles for 
  17. each category as you wish. You should keep in mind that most users will
  18. probably want (and you will probably distribute on) a 360Kb disk.

  20. This full featured, professional software program and it's support file
  21. occupy less than 60Kb of disk space.  The minimum amount of "free disk
  22. space" that is required for proper operation is equal to the size of
  23. your largest ".DAT" file.

  25. If your largest ".DAT" file occupies 6Kb of disk space in ASCII format,
  26. then the minimum (and maximum) "free disk space" required for proper
  27. operation is 6Kb. The remainder of disk space is available for your
  28. catalog listings.

  30. The number of listings you may have on a 360Kb disk is dependent on the
  31. length of each description. The shorter the description, the more 
  32. listings you may have. You have approximately 300Kb of disk space 
  33. available for your compressed listings and information screens.

  35. This amounts to approximately 800-900Kb of un-compressed ascii files.
