This is the Adam FidoNet EchoMail Conference. It is carried
on the FidoNet "Backbone" distribution system and uses the
EchoMail "tag" of ADAM. It is listed in the official FidoNet
EchoList.
Each conference distributed by the FidoNet backbone distribution
system must have a moderator. I am the moderator of the Adam
conference and I can be reached via netmail at FidoNet address
1:3608/1. I can also be reached by calling "221B Baker Street"
BBS at (904) 871-6536 or by voice at (904) 871-6532. My mailing
address is: James Young, 848 West Street, Panama City, FL 32404.
Your comments concerning the conference are welcome.
The rules of the ADAM conference are simple:
1. Don't be easily annoyed.
2. Don't be excessively annoying.
3. Keep to the topic of the conference.
4. Aliases aren't permitted (see below).
5. FidoNet origin lines are required.
Don't be easily annoyed. Try to remember that messages
may sound more harsh than the sender intended. Unlike
face-to-face conversations, we can't see expressions in
messages. That's why some folks use "smiley faces" :-)
or <grin> to emphasize that they are just kidding or
that they aren't to be taken seriously. Also, it's
possible to disagree with a person's position on an
issue without disliking the person.
Don't be annoying. The messages you post are being addressed
to real live people with human feelings. Be nice. Other
annoying things include the use of profanity or quoting someone
else's profanity verbatim; non-compliance with general echo
policies; the use of "high-end" characters (those which have
"ASCII" values above 127) in echo messages; advertisements
(but see the following); posting of derogatory messages;
and non-compliance with a moderation message.
Advertisements for ADAM hardware, ADAM software, ADAM BBSs,
ADAM user groups, ADAM user group meetings, and ADAM
newsletters ARE permitted.
It is considered impolite to use all upper case when posting
messages because the text is hard to read and it looks to most
people as if you were shouting.
Each message must contain the full (real) name of the
originator. If the name shown in the "FROM" block is a
"handle" or "alias", then the real name of the originator
must be shown in the body of the message. Real names in
the "FROM" block are preferred.
This is a FidoNet-origin conference, the use of official
Zonegates into other networks is required. The FidoNet address
of systems which are members of more than one network must be
shown on the origin line of messages posted from those systems.
The alternate address may also appear.
