IF YOU ARE RUNNING JetMail 1.05 OR EARLIER, be sure you check the end of
this text file for special instructions to upgrade to version 1.14.
* Upgrading from 1.12 (or 1.10) to version 1.14:
- Replace JETMAIL.EXE with the new .EXE dated 10/20/92.
- Replace MAKECONF.EXE with the new .EXE dated 10/20/92.
- Replace JETMAIL.ID with the new one dated 10/20/92.
- All files dated 10/20/92 have changes since 1.12, but they are not
vital changes. All files dated 10/19/92 have not changed.
- JetMail 1.14 has been installed. JETSM.EXE is unchanged.
* Significant Changes Version 1.14 since 1.12:
- When no new messages are found when the Download command is
selected, and the caller has selected to scan new bulletins and/or
new files, then the caller will have the option to download a .QWK
packet containing new bulletins or new files.
- Added extra parameter to MAKECONF.EXE, to specify maximum length for
conference names.
- Messages written to Sysop in the .REP packet uploaded to JetMail
will be translated to the Sysop's User Name.
- New parameters added: RUNSHARE, XFERDATA, HANGUP, DUPCHECK.
- Support for non-standard comm port addresses.
- Support for new .QWK format, introduced by QMail on July 1, 1991.
- Various bug fixes, refer to HISTORY.TXT .
* Special Instructions for upgrading from 1.05 or 1.06ß :
Two major items have changed from version 1.05/1.06ß to 1.14:
1. JetMail internal messages for errors and user interface
2. JetMail file transfer method
Prior to upgrading JetMail, be sure to backup your entire JetMail home
directory. This will let you insure you have a working JetMail in case
the upgrade process is messed up.
6 steps for upgrading to 1.14:
- Replace JETMAIL.EXE with the new .EXE dated 10/20/92.
- Replace JETSM.EXE with the new .EXE dated 10/20/92.
- Remove JETMAIL.ERR; place JETTEXT.DAT in your JetMail directory.
Do not edit or modify JETTEXT.DAT.
- Remove JETXFER.LST from your JetMail directory.
- Remove JETDN/JETUP transfer batch files (or restore your SFEXT batch
files as originally written according to Spitfire docs);
place JETXFER.DAT in your JetMail directory.
- Edit JETXFER.DAT to contain the transfer protocols that you wish to
support for your system, checking filenames and paths. You can edit
JETXFER.DAT using JETSM's Transfer Protocol Editor or using a simple
ASCII text editor. Refer to JETMAIL.DOC for JETXFER.DAT format.
