  1. SASKATCHEWAN SCOUTER ECHO RULES:                            REV-93/05/23

  3.      This is a Saskatchwawan Wide Scouting Echo Conference.It is open to
  4.      all SCOUTS AND SCOUTERS from around the province, and to anyone
  5.      wishing more information about the VENTURER, ROVER, BOY SCOUT, WOLF
  6.      CUBS, BEAVERS, SPARKS, BROWNIE,  GIRL GUIDE, or OTHER SCOUTING
  7.      programs for youth in Saskatchewan.
  8.  
  9.      The Saskatchewan SCOUTER Echo is distributed using a computer based
  10.      Echo Mail  method of telecommunication mail processing.  This is
  11.      done using computers with modems connected via the FidoNet Echo
  12.      Mail Backbone in Saskatchewan.
  13.  
  14.      To link into this no-cost conference, ask your SYSOP to request 
  15.      NET140.SCOUTER. There are NO restrictions placed on this
  16.      conference other than the stated rules.  It is open to all who wish
  17.      to participate, or have an interest in a Scouting program for
  18.      youth.

  20.      For the purposes of this echo conference:
  21.      A SCOUT is any PERSON between the age of 05 & 22 who is registered
  22.      with SCOUTS CANADA or GIRL GUIDES CANADA. A Scout may be a BOY or a
  23.      GIRL enrolled in one of the many Scouting programs that allows
  24.      youths as members.
  25.  
  26.      A SCOUTER is any ADULT (male or female) over the age of 18 who is
  27.      registered as an ADULT with the Scouting or Guiding program.

  30. *** PURPOSE ***
  31.  
  32.      This Echo's basic purpose is to provide a Provincial
  33.      Telecommunication link for people who are interested in the
  34.      Scouting program and to provide a device for Scouts and Scouters
  35.      from across the province to exchange ideas and discuss Scouting
  36.      programs and adventures.  Please keep all discussions and messages
  37.      on this echo relating to SCOUTS and SCOUTING topics.

  40. *** POLICY & RULES ***

  42.      Basically, I expect each user of this echo to "act" like a Scout
  43.      should, and to subscribe to and follow the Scout Law.
  44.  
  45.      In other words you should be:

  47.      TRUSTWORTHY          OBEDIENT
  48.      LOYAL                CHEERFUL
  49.      HELPFUL              THRIFTY
  50.      FRIENDLY             BRAVE
  51.      COURTEOUS            CLEAN
  52.      KIND                 REVERENT

  55. *** MESSAGES ***
  56.  
  57.      Messages will NOT, at any time, contain any profanity or abusive
  58.      language! If you feel you must FLAME someone for whatever reason,
  59.      do it VIA Net Mail, NOT in the conference. If you have a question
  60.      about Echo Policy, it should be directed to the Echo Moderator.

  62.      Messages MUST NOT contain non-ASCII characters,ANSI graphics, or
  63.      8-bit ASCII characters. This goes for ORIGIN LINES as well. The use
  64.      of excessive capitalization and punctuation (ie:  Multiple question
  65.      marks & exclamation marks) is considered "shouting". If you wish to
  66.      use capitals for emphasis or for other special purposes, you should
  67.      limit their use and be consistant. A "free" use of capitals may
  68.      give dignity to some messages,  but a free use of them without
  69.      logical purpose nullifies their purpose and may be rude.  When in
  70.      doubt, don't capitalize or over punctuate. Topics discussed on this
  71.      Conference should pertain to one of the Scouting programs, its
  72.      functions, trips, events, people, or policies. (Scout Stuff)

  75. *** ADVERTISING ***
  76.  
  77.      NO commercials, advertising, promoting, or selling of merchandise
  78.      is permitted on the conference.  If you happen to know of a Scout
  79.      Related book, magazine, or program that other users of this echo
  80.      may like, you may post it once, as long as you are not the person
  81.      selling the object. (You can only tell about it).

  84. *** MODERATING ***
  85.  
  86.      All moderating of the echo is to be done by the Moderator.  NO
  87.      OTHER USER is authorized to repremand, admonish, rebuke, or
  88.      otherwise comment to any person posting a message that may be
  89.      off-topic, or out of line.  It is one of the Moderator's duties
  90.      to do this. If you feel there is a problem that should be
  91.      dealt with, contact the Moderator via Net-Mail or at one of the
  92.      addresses below, and he or she will determine the outcome and
  93.      proper course to be taken.

  95.      The Saskatchewan SCOUTER Echo rules will be posted at regular
  96.      intervals, and are subject to change. The Moderator welcomes input
  97.      on rules and guidelines, and tries not to take the hard line
  98.      approach in moderating. However, discussion of changes should be
  99.      discussed via netmail, or via regular mail, and NOT on the Echo.
  100.      Your reasons for change will be listened to, and you may see that
  101.      change, or your suggestions in the next issuance of the
  102.      SASKATCHEWAN SCOUTER ECHO RULES.
