Scouting Magazine (UK) September 1991
Cub Scout Supplement
Rikki's Resources
This month we are printing the words for three songs which could be
used in Cub Scout Pack acts of worship or at campfires.
Shake My Hand
We first heard this song at a Cub Scout Leaders' Conference in Dublin
and since then it has become a favourite. In the last verse, the last
line is repeated getting quieter each time, until the last time, when
it is sung loudly.
Shake my hand and call me friend
We can understand each other
May our friendship never end
Each to each just like a brother.
North to South and East to West
Black or White or any other
Shaking hands is far the best
way to greet a man as brother.
We are children of the Earth
and we can stand by each other
We can tell that from our birth
We can call each other brother.
Shake my hand and call me friend
we can understand each other
may our friendship never end
shake and call each other brother
shake and call each other brother
SHAKE AND CALL EACH OTHER BROTHER.
It's a small world
The theme song from Walt Disney's, It's a small world
at the New York's World Fair 1964-5.
Chorus
It's a small world after all,
It's a small world after all,
It's a small world after all,
It's a small, small world.
It's a world of laughter
a world of tears
It's a world of hope
and a world of fears.
There's so much that we share
That it's time we're aware
it's a small world after all.
Chorus
There is just one moon
and one golden sun,
and a smile means
friendship to everyone.
Though the mountains divide
and the oceans are wide
It's a small world after all.
Family of Scouting
This song by Malcolm Lycett, has been used in Gang Shows nationwide,
however it makes a lovely theme song to use in an act of worship as
well.
When you join the family of Scouting
Everyone is part of a worldwide family
Friends together, helping one another
On our journey together you and me.
Many, many friends are made in a handshake
Memories are made with style
Caring and sharing our lives in friendship
Wrapped in a friendly smile
Friends are made in Scouting days together
As we live our journey, you and me.
Live and love each one of us sincerely
Scouting's our life, one family.
If you would like a tape of these songs and the music, please send a
blank audio cassette and a stamped self-addressed envelope to the
Jungle Telegraph, Scouting Magazine, Baden-Powell House, Queen's
Gate, London SW7 5JS.
