  8. The following files are included with the Library Reader package:
  9.  
  10. LIBRARY.EXE         The RFP Electronic Library Reader program.
  11. LIBRARY.CFG         Not included in package. Will be created when
  12.                       you first run the Reader program.
  13. RFPELIB.PCX         An introductory graphic for the Reader.
  14. PRINTER.DAT         Necessary for configuring your printer.
  15. LIBRARY1-6.ICO      Electronic Libary icons for use with Microsoft
  16.                       Windows 3.x.
  17. CATALOG.MTP         A catalog of other Micro Tutor Products
  18. ORDRFORM.MTP        An order form for Micro Tutor Products
  19.  
  20.                     (Please don't delete the Catalog or Order Form.
  21.                      The Reader program expects them to be there.)

  25.                        QUICK START INSTRUCTIONS
  26.  
  27. 1.  Change to the subdirectory that you selected during your Electronic
  28.     Library installation.
  29.  
  30. 2.  To run the Reader, type LIBRARY.
  31.     To run the Reader without the VGA graphics, type LIBRARY /W.
  32.  
  33. 3.  From within a book, F1 gives you the key definitions of the
  34.     available functions, and / (a slash) gives you the pulldown Menu.
  35.  
  36. 4.  The first time you read a book the table of contents for that book
  37.     is displayed.  The next time you want to read the book, you are
  38.     returned to the same place you left.

  44.                        DESCRIPTION OF FUNCTIONS
  45.  
  46. All functions can be accessed either from the Menu (/) or by using the
  47. appropriate Quick Key, given in parentheses below.

  52.  
  53. Previous Unit (Alt-P) -- This will take you to the previous "unit" of
  54.    the book you are currently reading. If you are already at the first
  55.    unit, this function will wrap you around to the last unit.
  56.  
  57. Next Unit (Alt-N) -- This will take you to the next unit of the book
  58.    you are currently reading.  If you are already at the last unit,
  59.    this function will wrap you around to the first unit.
  60.  
  61. Table of Contents (Alt-T) -- This will take you back to the Table of
  62.    Contents, where you can select a particular unit of the current
  63.    book.
  64.  
  65. Jump to Line (Alt-J) -- Go to a particular line number within the
  66.    current unit of the current book.

  69. Search

  72. Unit (Alt-S) -- Use this function to search only the current book unit
  73.    for the particular text string you are interested in.  You may
  74.    designate the search to be either Case Sensitive or Case
  75.    Insensitive.  (If you select Case Sensitive and search on "cheshire
  76.    cat", the search will not find "Cheshire Cat".)  Note that there is
  77.    a maximum of 100 "hits" for any one search.

  79. Book (Ctrl-S) -- Use this function to search the entire book for the
  80.    text string you are interested in.  As with the Unit search, there
  81.    is a maximum of 100 "hits" for any one search.

  84. BookMarks
  85. ---------

  87. Drop (Alt-B) -- This function will put a bookmark at the current line
  88.    of the current unit of the current book.  You will be asked to
  89.    select a color for the bookmark, to distinguish it from other
  90.    bookmarks in this particular unit.  There is a maximum of 5
  91.    bookmarks allowed per book.  Each book's bookmarks are kept
  92.    separately, so, for instance, you can have a Red bookmark in each
  93.    book.

  95. Remove (Alt-R) -- This function will remove one of your bookmarks.
  96.    You will be asked for the particular color of bookmark to remove.

  98. Goto (Alt-G) -- This function will take you to one of your bookmarks.
  99.  
  100. List (Alt-L) -- This will list all available bookmarks, along with
  101.    their current status and location.

  104. Printing

  107. Unit (Ctrl-U) -- This function will send the current book unit to the
  108.    selected printer.
  109.  
  110. Book (Ctrl-B) -- This function will send the entire book to the
  111.    selected printer.  Make sure you have plenty of paper!
  112.  
  113. Configure (Ctrl-P) -- Use this function to select the printer
  114.    definition codes for your particular printer.
  115.  
  116. Test (Ctrl-T) -- This function will print one page, testing the codes
  117.    for Bold, Italic, and Condensed printing on your printer.  We
  118.    strongly suggest that you use this feature to test your
  119.    configuration.

  122. Other

  125. Information (Alt-I) -- This will give you a screen of data about how
  126.    the RFP Electronic Library was developed.

  128. Select Book (Ctrl-N) -- This will take you back to the initial menu
  129.    where you can select a different book to read.

  131. Exit Program (Ctrl-A) -- This is an immediate exit from the program.
  132.    You can also "back out", step by step, by hitting the Esc key.

  134. Catalog (Ctrl-C) -- Use this function to see a catalog of Micro Tutor
  135.    Products software, current up to the date of this package.  You can
  136.    send the catalog to your Monitor or to your Printer.

  138. Order Form (Ctrl-O) -- Use this function to print out an order form
  139.    for all Micro Tutor Products software available as of the date of
  140.    this package.

  143.                              USING A MOUSE
  144.  
  145. You can use any Microsoft-compatible mouse with The READING FOR
  146. PLEASURE ELECTRONIC LIBRARY Reader.  Selection bars can be moved with
  147. the mouse and selections made with the left mouse button.  In
  148. addition, you can move through a book unit or a long menu by clicking
  149. on the vertical bar on the right of the screen.  The help screen and
  150. the Menu can be selected by clicking on the appropriate words at the
  151. bottom of the screen.  Escaping from any menu, or the book display
  152. screen, can be accomplished by pressing the right mouse button.
