  6. How many ways can you enhance your HP LaserJet printer?  I'm not
  7. sure, but I'm willing to bet that we still haven't seen the end.
  8. The Practical Peripherals FaxMe is just yet another ingenious
  9. way to expand the capabilities of a LaserJet printer.

  11. The FaxMe is a cartridge that is plugged into the left cartridge
  12. slot of a LaserJet.  Plug the other end of it into a phone jack,
  13. and you have a 9600 bps receive-only fax machine.  The cartridge
  14. is set up to be configured from the printer's control panel, so
  15. it is not terribly easy to configure.  Still, there are so few
  16. options that the inconvenience is trivial.

  18. The FaxMe can be permanently installed and set to automatic
  19. sensing of fax, or print demand.  While printing, the cartridge
  20. will ignore the phone, and, at the user's option, can ignore the
  21. phone for a predefined amount of time afterwards, to keep from
  22. flushing soft fonts.  The quality of the print is not as good as
  23. you would find printing directly from the LaserJet, but it is
  24. comparable to most mid-line laser faxes.

  26. For LaserJet owners who need to receive faxes on occasion, don't
  27. want to buy a fax machine, and aren't sure about tying up their
  28. computers with fax/modems, this cartridge is a good product to
  29. consider.  While it only supports a maximum of 9600 bps as a
  30. V.29 fax receiver, the speed difference for occasional use is
  31. not likely to be noticed much.  With good quality, reasonable
  32. speed, and extremely simple installation and operation, the
  33. FaxMe should be able to meet the fax needs of a number of
  34. people.
