  30.                          INTRODUCING NISSPAC
  31.  
  32. NISSPAC is a database service provided for the higher education
  33. community by NISS (National Information on Software and Services).
  34.  
  35. The idea behind NISSPAC is to provide a common interface to a variety of
  36. text based data collections. At present, these consist of the NISS
  37. Software and Datasets Catalogue, VAX Applications Software Directory,
  38. IBM Study Contracts dataset and the CHEST Directory.
  39.  
  40. While every effort is being made to maintain a similar mode of use with
  41. each of the data collections, some variations arise due to differences
  42. in the nature and structure of the data.

  44. Selecting a service from the NISSPAC menu results in a 'Main Menu'
  45. display for that particular service. Full details regarding content,
  46. purpose and method of use can be obtained at the Main Menu stage.
  47.  
  48. After using a particular service, the user may elect to exit the system
  49. and logoff, or return to the NISSPAC Menu to select another service.
