  12. This information system is a joint project of the ANU Library and the
  13. Computer Services Centre. It is an prototype installation, and therefore
  14. subject to rapid change.
  15.  
  16. It is based on 'Gopher' software developed in the public domain by the
  17. University of Minnesota and now used by over 70 institutions to deliver
  18. their electronic information services. The top level of this server runs
  19. on info.anu.edu.au in the Library but it links to many hundreds of other
  20. servers across the network.
  21.  
  22. This server can be accessed via client software on Macintosh, PC,
  23. X-Windows and Unix machines. 
  24.  
  25. A cut down version of the Unix client can be accessed via telnet to
  26. info.anu.edu.au and login to 'info'. No password is needed for this
  27. service. For help with available commands, type a question mark (?).  On
  28. some terminals, you may need to use the CTRL-N and CTRL-P keys to move
  29. the cursor, instead of the arrow keys.

  32. network services at ANU, Elsewhere in Australia and Overseas.
